While that was cool, it would be an awful loot cooler if they could actually sing. Seriously, they were so off key it hurt in places. Call me a snob, but it was pretty sad.

Though I did appreciate the Tetris section, and Zelda was pretty funny.

Coppertop: How could you miss Mortal Kombat? And most of the sections were just from different sections of Super Mario, or from other Mario games.

Ah yes, Mortal Kombat. Never play fighters myself, and don't really associate MK with the NES, just coin-ops. I did recognize that, however - just forgot to mention it. Are you sure there wasn't another game in there besides the other parts of SMBros.?

edit - it must be the other Mario games I didn't recognize

I'm trying to figure out who they are. I found a reference to the MIT/Wellesley Toons, form Spring 1999: "The Super Mario Bros. gig was the most entertaining moment of the night. This piece involved the singers role-playing as the characters from Super Mario Brothers. Super Mario battled the evil toads, fire flower and King Koopa to save the Princess. The phenomenal sound effects and actions dazzled the audience."

Must admit I thought the Mortal Kombat bit might have been Double Dragon or Final Fight. Not too familiar with the MK music.

I liked it and was horrified by it at the same time. Part of me says, "Cool! It pays homage to games I've been playing since I was 3 years old!" Then another part of me says, "I sooooo want to beat all those guy's asses!"
