Dreamcast games?
Well I just got my hands on a dreamcast and was wondering what some good games are, I really like RPGs and adventure games, but any 'good' games would do, anyone have any suggestions?
also, would i have to have a mod chip of some sort to play back-up copies?

Old signature just wasn't doing it for me anymore, so now I have this new one. It's equally as stupid but at least it looks really long. I'm probably just going to keep typing until I run out of things to babble about and see how many people actually read this. I once ran down a hill, fell down and hurt my elbow; my mom said I would be ok, she kissed it and made it all better. I've run out of things to say now, so if you have read this whole thing, congratulations you get a gold star! |

Get "The Horde". Amazingly fun gameplay and concept, with Kirk Cameron in some god awful cut scenes too! I don't and never have owned a dreamcast, but I've almost made the leap several times solely for this game.

SKIES OF ARCADIA
SKIES OF ARCADIA SKIES OF ARCADIA Man I love that game. ARRGGH!!!!! I love pirates. I love airships. I love RPGs. An RPG with pirates and airships...PERFECT!! I think this is the best Dreamcast game. Try Resident Evil: Code Veronica if you haven't played it. Another great DC game. Soul Calibur of course (best fighting game ever if ya ask me). -Lasereth

Check out Grandia 2 and Shenmue also. You don't need a mod chip to play backups, but after a certain manufacturing date (sorry, I don't remember), it is more complicated to make self-bootable discs from ISOs. Once upon a time I made a few for my "new" Dreamcast so I can verify that it's possible.

The only two games that I can think of that haven't been mentioned would be:
Record of the Lodoss War and Jet Grind Radio. Oh and another vote for Skies of Arcadia here ![]()

Powerstone 2! The only game I've really played for DC. It's like a fighter, but you move through these crazy-ass levels. And weird weapons come out of nowhere. And there's this mode where you can collect weapons, and then mix them to make new ones. Awesome... I need a DC...

Resident Evil Code: Veronica
Sonic Adventure Skies of Arcadia Soul Calibur Powerstone 1 and 2 and for the rpg side heres a small list of them 10. World Neverland Plus - A life-sim/RPG using an isometric view with you living as a citizen in a quaint society. 09. Sengoku Turb - An action/RPG from NEC with kiddie graphics. 08. Romance of the Three Kingdoms VI - Yet another in the long running series of strategy/RPG titles. 07. Shenmue, Shenmue II, Grand Theft Auto 2 (Best GTA game ever, and its the best version of GTA2), Powerstone 1 & 2 (owns super smash brothers/melee in everyway possible), Jet Grind Radio (US)/Jet Set Radio (Japan) (Awesome, Awesome game. One of the first games to use cel shading, check out the sequel Jet Set Radio Future on Xbox if you can also), Rez (also on PS2, the best rhythm/music game out there, amazing music and visuals), Space Channel 5, D2 (nice action/horror game), Soul Calibur, NFL 2K*, Seaman (VERY strange game, but if you can find the game with the microphone, pick it up. Its worth it just to play it). That's all I can think of, the NFL Blitz games were pretty fun if you were playing with a friend, but pretty boring by yourself.

Repeats:
Skies of Arcadia(I was going through it for the third or fourth time a few weeks ago and the disks stopped working, dammit), Shenmue I&II(import II from Europe and get a boot disk), Record of Lodoss War(like Diablo, but more fun, somehow) Soul Calibur(the best fighting game until its sequel) and Crazy Taxi(probably the most fun I'd ever had with a video game at that point).

Shenmue, Mr. Driller, Rival Schools 2, Capcom v. SNK, Seaman, WWF Royal Rumble (Only if you enjoy arcade-style wrestling), Evolution 1 & 2, and the NBA 2K series are all great games. Ah, I miss my Dreamcast.

Well after reading the thread these ideas aren't exactly original, but I might as well emphasize them as well.
Skies of Arcadia - i haven't played too many RPGs but I was in love with this one. and hell, even those who have played a lot of RPGs still say this is a great one. Soul Calibur - after playing the second one on PS2, I still think that the first one has a much better feel to it Jet Grind Radio - just a fun pick up and play game, with the original (at the time) cell-shading visual style

Dreamcast had some great fighters. Street Fighter 3 Third Strike, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 (which seems to be hard to find), the SNK vs, Capcom series, Dead or Alive 2. And remember, the DC didn't need any modifications to play homemade cds, so you can get a DIVX player for it and watch videos.
