HL2:Deathmatch - Can't play Crossfire maps. WTF?! - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

Why oh WHY can't I play this map? I always get the "You map differ's from server's" error.

I went to my map folder, deleted the two versions I had downloaded. Connected with steam once again. DL'd the map. Same result.

Tried many different servers running crossfire - same result.

My buddy logged on to the same server I just failed on, DL'd the map...it worked for him.

I've successfully logged on, DL'd and played lots of other maps - Killbox (three versions), street, etc. with no problem. WHAT THE HECK IN THE WORLD IS WRONG WITH ME THAT I CAN'T PLAY MY FAVORITE MAP??!!

*clavus breaks down in frustrated sobs. unsightly snot-bubble forms under left nostril*

It automatically DL'd when I tried to join games running the Crossfire maps. I tried a variety of different servers on different nights.

Have you tried downloading it independant of HL/Steam? That might be worth a try.

This one is a beta version, you know if this is the one you're trying to play?

Its either your version or a bad download...it happens.

There's like 6 versions floating around. I've played dm_crossfire_b2, lots of fun.
Try downloading them from www.hl2files.com They've also have a few map packs already. Mostly full of beta maps. It's gonna be awhile before a final version of all these maps are out. Lots of different mappers are putting out remakes of classic HL1 dm maps.

Most of the new maps I've played suck. Crossfire isn't as much fun without the snarks, glouss gun or the big guns in the bunker.

I'm waiting for new versions of Doublecross and Rats.

Didn't work. I wonder if there is some other file somewhere in teh machien that I need to delete to get Crossfire (any version) to work.
