Burnout 3
 

Has anyone played Burnout 3? I think that game is awesome. I've been playing it with my buddy for months and it never gets old. The gameplay is addictive, the graphics awesome, and the crashes intense. I think it's one of the best games out there for PS2 (I don't play other systems too often) unless you don't like racing games, in which case you should still give it a try at least.

It's good. It almost seems like multiple games on one DVD. The crash modes and the race modes are completely different styles of gaming. It has a sort of Mario Kart-ish appeal that makes it feel like its more than just doing laps quicker than everyone else. You're using your car as a steel bludgeon at the same time you're trying to race it across the map.

there was a thread on this. general consensus is that it's an awesome game. Love the road rage levels. I can't imagine how good it would be on xbox live, where every car is a person

I've been thinking about buying this game... but my only concern is that it might get tired quickly.

But I might get it anyway, something to keep my cravings in check before GT4 comes out :D

Are you looking for technically accurate gameplay or crazy over the top action? Burnout is all about over the top. The idea of braking through your turns is practically non-existent.

If you're looking for technically challenging, I suggest Colin McRae 2005. Of course, that game goes in the opposite direction by being almost unforgiving. But it's also priced at 30 bucks.

I hate to say, I'm really disappointed with this game. I hadn't played Burnout 1 or 2 but when I bought a new PS2 I got this game free with it.

It does have some redeeming features, such as the intense speed you seem to hurtle around at but it seems like more time is spent on the in-between-screens than actually playing the game and the soundtrack is fucking awful.

Conclusion:

The races are too short, the layout is cluttered and the soundtrack sucks...

... but the speed is amazing.

I really enjoy playing this game. Yes, the loading time sucks but it's well worth it. Once you get into the longer races and faster cars, it's all worthwhile. You unlock events and cars pretty quickly so it's pretty motivating to keep playing. I did the F1 race and damn that was fast! I really like the soundtrack. It fits the game very well.

This game is great, especially over xbox-live!

There's about 80 threads on this now, but yes, this is a damn good game. Took me a good while to completely beat it as well. One of the best racers in years, no doubt. Every one should own this game.

I wasn't as impressed. I rented it over new years. The game didn't seem to progress much or change as you continued. The cars at the beginning don't handle that much different. I would also like to customize the cars I have, not just the color. If you could add upgrades to your car to make them tougher that would be cool.

Awesome game. Get the Xbox version. I beat it a few months ago with all golds :)

Game Of The Year in my most humble opinion. I made it through Halo2, HL2, Doom3 once apiece and have never looked back but given the sheer amount of time and enjoyment I have had with Burnout 3 it is clearly the GOTY. One of the best racing games ever. The bar has definitely been raised for Forza and MC3:HUB.
