Get a bunch of free games at ToysRUs!!!
First, before you ask any questions, look at this guys receipt: http://www.slackerville.tk/
How did he do that? Well, there was a coupon that went out to "RZone" subscribers that gives them $10 off any two games priced $19.99 or less. A lot of "Green-Light" games at ToysRUs are only $5, so with this coupon, you can get an unlimited amount of $5 games for free (as long as they are in multiples of two, of course)! Before I go any further, I must say this: SAVE SOME GAMES FOR THE REST OF US! I'm gonna head out tomorrow and get do all my Christmas shopping with my only $10 that I have to my name. I am going to get what I can and that's it. So now what you've been waiting for: http://www.geocities.com/irc_email/coupon/coupon.jpg Simply crop the coupon in photoshop, resize it to 2"x3", and go get your Christmas shopping done. Take care. |
I may just have to do this, once I get home.

Do keep in mind guys, that Toys-R-Us is probably going to go under this year. So, snag up some bargains, but don't tear open an already mortal wound. There is a difference between taking advantage of a great deal, and taking advantage...period. Be cool.

Edit: Just to let you know, I confirmed that this works today, but their green tag selection has been pretty much picked clean. I did manage to snag four copies of Eternal Eyes, four copies of Blaster Master, and four copies of Gran Turismo 2 all for the modest price of $15.11. Quote:

I think that I will try this, thanks for giving me the tip. Do you think it matters if you print out the coupon and it has the same scan number? I was wondering about that.

I'm hoping to go hit up another Toys R Us tomorrow. I did my math wrong today, thinking I was going to spend $25, when in actuality I only spent $15. That's another $10 of free games I can snag! :) |
City, did you scan in an actual coupon? Are the clerks willing to take a printout? It says explicitely on the coupon, "Void if copied." I think we're going to try it later, but did you get any flak when you redeemed the coupon?

P.S. DON'T FORGET to crop the coupon and then resize it to 2"x3" with 96pixels/inch in Photoshop. Edit: You can read up more on this here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forum/v...4aeaa839e46e28 Not sure if you need to register or not. |
UPDATE: I took my mom there to go Christmas shopping, and together we bought 25 games for $40!!! Her receipt said she saved $209, and my receipt from earlier today said I saved $93, so all in all we saved over $300 at Toys R Us today!! Yes, that's 37 games for about $55!!! Yowza!
|
Coppertop and I went to a Toys R Us tonight but didn't see any Green Light games left. :( Oh well.
|
You're kidding me! They have a small section where all the green-tagged games are. They're not mixed in with the rest of the games they have.
|
We looked around, but it was a small disaster area, with crap piled everywhere. Maybe it was there, but I didn't see it.
|
I cleaned up the coupon in photoshop, cropped it, made it CMYK so the colors will print correctly, and saved it as a PDF so it'll be the same on all PC's. Now does anyone know anyway i can attach it so i can share it with everyone? :D

Alright guys; a new way to stick it to the man: Gamerush! I just took three of my crappy PS1 games that I got for FREE to Gamerush, traded 'em in, and was able to buy Silent Hill 4: The Room for $6!! Gamerush has a deal where you trade in any 3 PS1 or better games and get any preowned game for only $10. The real beauty of it is after that deal, you can still use the trade-in value of those three games towards that $10!!
Yeeeah yeeah baby baby baaabaay! /sorry I'm just excited. |
Well i just tried this today and they wouldnt take the coupon, the cashier tried to scan it, wouldnt work, tried to manually punch it in, wouldnt work, had the manager come over and try, wouldn't work. So you may not want to go up there with about 30 games like i did and try this :P

UPDATE!:
This plan just keeps getting more and more amazing. :) I just thought of this right now: After trading-in all my "free" Toys R Us games to blockbuster and buying out all their $36.99 Preowned games at $6 a pop, I can trade all THOSE games back in for their trade-in prices! Tomorrow I am going to go pick up Star Wars: Battlefront for $6. The trade-in value for that game is $30!! I'm sitting on a gold-mine! Man I love it when the system farts in favor of the people. :) |
Holy shit, you've practically discovered perpetual motion!

Oh yeah, another thing that makes it non-perpetual is my finite amount of "free" games from Toys R Us. Once those are all traded in, three at a time each day, then the only things to trade in are those $36.99 games for $30 credit each. After those are traded in, it would actually decrease my profit if I trade in anything I buy with the credit accrued in my trade-in account, as I would technically be buying them full price anyways. But hey, it's still turning nothing into something!  I predict that by the time all of this is over, my trade-in account will be up to about $150, unless I use some of that trade-in value to purchase the $6 games. So, my account will probably be in the range from $126-$150. Let's see... I'll work out all the math here. My first trip to Toys R Us cost me $15.11. I bought 12 games there, but then gave three to my little brother, so I got 9 games out of that deal. My second trip to Toys R Us cost me $8, my dad $20, and my mom $16.19 ($44.19 overall). We bought 25 games on that trip. So what I did then is mixed up all the games from both trips (minus the ones I gave to my little brother), and then split 'em up between my mom and I. So that's 25+9 = 34 games total, then 34/2 = 17 games total for me. I'm keeping one of these games for myself (Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits), so I have a total of 16 games to trade in to Gamerush. Since the Gamerush deals deplete my games by 3 each time, we'll just appoint 15 games to be traded in, so it all works out evenly. So far, I've spent $23.11, and I'll add on half of my dad's $20 for a total expenditure of $33.11, and from that I acquired 17 games, two of which I will keep. Trip one to Gamerush: "Free" Games = 15-3 = 12 games left Gamerush Games (each with a $30 trade-in value)= +1 Expenditure = $6 Total expenditure = $39.11 Trip two to Gamerush: "Free" Games = 12-3 = 9 games left Gamerush Games = 1+1 = 2 Expenditure = $6 Total expenditure = $45.11 Trip three to Gamerush: "Free" Games = 9-3 = 6 games left Gamerush Games = 2+1 = 3 Expenditure = $6 Total expenditure = $51.11 Trip four to Gamerush: "Free" Games = 6-3 = 3 games left Gamerush Games = 3+1= 4 Expenditure = $6 Total expenditure = $57.11 Trip five to Gamerush: "Free" Games = 3-3 = 0 games left Gamerush Games = 4+1 = 5 Expenditure = $6 Total expenditure = $63.11 Trip six to (a different) Gamerush: Trade in all "Gamerush" games at $30 a pop. 5 games x $30 = $150 Account - Expenditure = $150-$63.11 = $86.89 Total Profit = $86.89 Since it's all store credit, I'll probably use it on new games, OR used games that I actually want (I really don't want 5 copies of Star Wars: Battlefront). Technically I'll be getting 3 brand new games (without tax) for a little over the price of one. Also take into account that the math above is all theoretical, as many factors are involved, such as: * The first game I got from Gamerush is Silent Hill 4: The Room. I'm not sure if it has a $30 trade-in value. * Gamerush might not have four more copies of Star Wars: Battlefront. * 3 of my Toys R Us games are not valid trade-ins for some reason. That could knock my profits down by a whole trip unless I find three other games of mine that they'd accept (and that I want to get rid of). * If I trade in any non-"free" games, chances are that I will be paying either more or less than $6 each trip. * At any moment, Gamerush can lower the trade-in value for Star Wars: Battlefront. * At any moment, Gamerush can heighten or lower the trade-in values of the games I trade in. |
Holy shit, I have to try this. I wish it wasn't finals week...
