Half Life 2 :Steam Question
I downloaded HL2 off steam last night, since 6 months ago bought an ATI Card and came with the free offer. Im just wondering how this steam thing works, and how I can make a copy of this onto a cd so that the next time I reformat I don't have to redownload everything? And last question is how big is HL2, I checked last night, the file size, and somehow it doesn't look right to me.

I did the same thing when I got my video card, and to be honest, I don't know for sure that you can avoid redownloading the game if you reformat, especially not with burning it to a CD. However, if you're on a network, go into c:\program files\valve\steam (or where ever you installed it) and then copy SteamApps over onto another computer. Then when you reinstall steam, move it back over and you should be all set.

Steam comes with a back up utility. Just right click the game you want to back up and select "back up game files". You'll get a list of games available for back up, select and go. You'll get a set of files with one .exe file. Hopefully you have a dvd-rw to put it on. If not you'll have to put them on a few cd's.
