New GTA Game
What does everyone think of the new Grand Theft Auto San Andreas game. I personally think the game is one of the funnest I've played in a while on the ps2. But it's getting pretty vulgar. About a year ago you never heard cussing on games past damn. Now there's nudity cussing etc. I'm just wondring where everyone thinks the game industry is going. Don't get me wrong I love the game and am not for censoring anything, I'm just curious what others have to say about the subject.

In Britain they have started certificating games the same way they do films.
Obviously GTA:SA had the highest possible rating, which is 18. Game makers can now include whatever they want in games, as long as they don't mind the game having a high certification, which will reduce the amount sold. With the GTA series I don't think the 18 certificate has made much difference though...

I think a lot of the conflict comes from older types in authorative positions who seem to think that video games are only played by kids.
That might have been true in the '80's but those kids are all grown up now and, guess what? They're still playing video games. |

There's also a lot of 'Protect the Children' mentality going on with this game.
As a kid, did you not sneak to watch R rated horror flicks? Many people I knew had to sneak to watch the exorcist because their parents didn't let them, or Texas Chainsaw Massacre... I did it as a kid.. well, I didn't sneak because my parents let me, but I watched a ton of Nighmare on Elm St, Friday the 13th, etc. I grew up just fine. My 13 year old cousin in more mature than most 18 year olds I know, and because of that, he's allowed to play this game. He'll grow up just fine. Swearing and game violence has nothing to do with teaching children the difference between reality and fiction. I was taught that early on.. I knew that horror movies were fake and it was all pretend, and my parents stressed that to me. I think the only side effect that had on me was not being able to truly enjoy a movie in thinkin that it was real. GTA:SA doesn't have any nudity in it (from what I can tell, anyway.. I'm far and haven't seen anything like that yet), but Manhunt had swearing. Vice City and GTA3 had swearing as well. The media likes to play parental police.
