Wireless controllers

Here's a tip: GET ONE!
I just bought a Pelican mini today for $19.99 at ebgames, and I am sooo happy that I did! My dad, who walks back and forth in front of the TV all the time, drags his feet and I'm often being yelled at for my controller wire stretching across from the TV to the sofa. Well, that problem is now eliminated! I even got my dad to pay for it!

My little 10-year-old brother pointed out something funny, too: I can play GTA: San Andreas while taking a crap in the bathroom! Not that I'll ever do that but I was like, "YES!"

Yeah a friend of mine said that he has and loves his Mad Catz wireless that work like a WiFi system in that you don't have to aim them at anything.

The pelican has a receiver, but I don't have to aim the controller at the receiver. In essence, if I wanted to play with my back turned to the TV, I could.

I love my wireless controllers for our xbox!

We have a 61 inch tv, so we have to sit pretty far back in order to see it all properly. Without the wireless controllers, I'd be sitting on the floor staring up at a huge tv.

If you own a GameCube and don't own a WaveBird you should either
A) Hang yourself
or
B) Buy one immediately

This controller pwns me in half.

Better than any other NGC controller in every single way except it doesn't have a Vibration function, which really doesn't bother me because I'm no big fan.

I assume they take two AA batteries ... so how does the battery life hold up on wireless controllers?

Yeah, the Pelican holds two AA batteries. So far, they haven't run out so I can't tell you for sure, but the box said something like 300 hours.

Wavebirds for the game cube are awesome. Especially if you play with a bunch of other people like I do. Lot less tripping over cords.

I hear that wireless controllers on pc dont work well with MAME. Anyone have any experience with this? I am building a machine to keep next to my tv just for MAME and console emulation so I think wireless controllers would be best if they work. I need to get a good steering wheel too.

I got a Wavebird a few months ago and love it. My girlfriend made me get it because she hated the messy cord, and I wasn't sure what I'd think of it, but now I would never get rid of it. The batteries have lasted a few months at least, and that's with a decent amount of gaming in that time.

I wanted a Mad Catz for Christmas last year and ended up getting a the Logitech one instead for the PS@ and to put it bluntly this thing sucks cock. For starters it is freaking HUGE, I do not care for the way the buttons are tiny and shiny just not very nice feeling at all. The d-pad and sticks are ok, the cupped tops on the sticks is actually very decent believe it or not, but is made out of the same hard plastic as everything else and not at all comfortable like the rubber topped mushroom type caps like the Sony or Mad Catz controllers. I guess I am not the only one who complained as Logitech totally redesigned these controllers since then and even made them a little smaller too. Has anyone had any experience with these new Logitech ones and if so what did you think?

I like the Wavebird controller, but only because it's an official first-party controller. In general, I haven't had much luck with third-party controllers for console systems. Every other third party controller my friends and I get usually end up dying a horrible death.

Try not throwing the controller at your friends.

The Wavebird rocks, thats for sure. I was thinking about getting a wireless controller for my Xbox (would be nice to have another controller anyway) but i'm not sure how well the controllers on the market fit your hand. I already have a crap controller (free), a big version and a s version. Only the s one gets used because noone likes the others.
As i order most stuff over the net, i can't try it out before i buy to make sure it fits. Can anyone recommend a good controller for the Xbox? I'm surpised MS didn't release one themselves, with all the stuff they did with the controller leads to make them safer if you trip over one.

i echo the wavebird option.. the wavebird is absolutely awesome... my girlfriend actually bought one as well so she didnt have to use the corded version.. I even use the wavebird when I used to sit about 4 feet away from the console...

it was just nice when you can pause the game, set the controller down on the opposite side of you and not worry about the cords..

as far as battery life.. I think I have replaced the batteries once and it has been over a year now... so when compared to use the batteries are worth it.

wavebird > all other console controllers.

if you have a gamecube, there really isn't a good reason not to get one. more range than you'd ever need, RF (no line-of-sight needed), first party quality, amazing battery life. my experience with third party controllers has been poor... my experience with third party wireless controllers ever poorer. hope this pelican works out for ya over the long run.

Mad Catz work really good, right up to the point a butterfly lands on them, or someone in the next county sneezes. Then they seem to break really easily...

What kind of controllers did you get and how do they work for you? I'm not actually sure if Microsoft has some out themselves, because I'm very wary of third-party controllers.
