Great forgotten classics
This is a thread to discuss all those great games that for some reason, the companies behind them decided to let die.
double dragon A definite classic. The best beatem up on the nes. I think the company behind it is out of the game. battletoad Same as double dragon but added a wacky factor to the genre. final fight The best beat em up ever. What the hell is capcom waiting to update the serie? There are so many fans worldwide. Besides, I think theres a huge gap to fill. Final fight 3 was pretty much the last good beat em up ever released. The new TMNT doesnt cut it. bionic commando One of the coolest device ever. That is innovation. It was so fun to use. Again, capcom needs to give the players a remake of this game. At least, they could include him in the next fighting game crossover. killer instinct I doubt Rare can make a fighting game as good as capcom now, but this serie still needs to be updated in some way. They never gave the players a good arcade conversion of this game. river city ransom Like double dragon but better. |

Kid Icarus(NES) - Loved this one...plus it had one of the best villians ever....The Eggplant Wizard!!
Fantasy Zone(SMS) - One of my favorite shooters of all time Megamania(Atari 2600) - You got to shoot hamburgers!! Brilliant!! Blackjack(Intellivision) - Damn that shifty eyed dealer. Montezuma's revenge(Coleco) - Loved this one, it had some great jumping puzzles.

- Blaster Master was the shit.
- Goonies 2 was awesome. I could make the boomerang circle for hours. - Bionic Commando was cool, but I never quite got the hang of the arm. I'd just end up knocking over enemies again and again. - Ninja Gaiden series. - 8 Eyes. Totally obscure game where you're a falconer and you can do co-op play by having a friend be the falcon. |

Shadow of the Beast, am I the only person who played it?! Whenever I mention this title people say "Huh?" or "Wha'?"! For godsakes there were two brilliant sequels too!
They were some of the greatest and most well designed 2D side scroller adventure puzzle games ever made! /anger |

n.a.r.c. -where the junkies you're trying to arrest or shoot are throwing used syringes at you.
A.P.B. -where the bonus round consisted of throttling the perp enough for a confession before the chief walked in. oh yeah, and all three punchouts. 1 and 2 in the arcade and mike tyson's punchout on nes.

Here are the rest of the screens: http://www.rpgamer.com/games/dq/dq8/dq8ss.html Oh yeah: Here's a giant ad for it: , found here: http://www.rpgamer.com/games/dq/dq8/dq8propaganda.html Anyways, one series I always like was Adventure Island. A 3-D conversion, Mario 64-style, of this series might turn out to be pretty cool.

good call with karnov. clearly a cia-funded ploy to heal us-ussr relations in the 80s.
good call also with goonies 2. a sequel to a movie that's a video game. some people i know still think it's impossible to beat and don't believe that i finished when i was like 12, yo. wizards and warriors was a brilliant game for the nes as well. and games like commando and gunsmoke were great, too. |

Man, I had Shadow of the Beast on my Atari Lynx, which had a whole heap of awesome games. Best one ever was Todd's Adventures in Slime World! It was just huge, I loved it.

Wow, I played Shadow of the Beast on my Turbo Duo - which reminds me of the other great Duo game, that being the import of Dracula X - which remains, to this day, the king of all Castlevania games. It is something that may never, ever be topped.
For me, though, the game that always comes out when friends get together is the old RBI Baseball. Awesome. |
