Is it just me or is this game ridiculously hard? I picked up this title for $30 at Fry's, mainly because I had been interested in 03 and 04 but never got around to picking them up. I enjoy rally racing and love how well they've done this game, but good god, it's pretty brutal. I mean, I'm Asian and don't think I perpetuate the driving stereotype, but after playing this game, I don't know anymore. I played through the first Career mode event (6 races) and came in some pitiful place (kind of like the biker in Excitebike when he doesn't get on the podium).

I feel like I should play Burnout 3 to counter balance the technical complexity in Colin Mcrae 2005.

I found them all the be pretty hard, although i've only played demos. It's something you need to get used to. You can't just hold down the accelerator and expect to get round the corners without harm.
Just keep playing and play on the cautious side (overbraking rather than not braking) and you should get the hang of it! Just be glad the cars don't die quite as easily as in real life.

i heard this game is amazing, but never heard anything about an extreme level of difficulty. thanks for the info, i was thinking of buying but i guess i'm better off renting first.

I've been playing it a bit more and it's pretty fun, if totally unforgiving. For one thing, Nicky Grist is most assuredly British, accent and all.

I finally beat the first series in first place, amazingly. It definitely requires you to pay attention to the make up of the track and to understand what your co-driver is saying.

Play this game with NO distractions.

I got it with my game pass and it did seem to be extremely hard. I thought it was a lot of fun tho. I kept getting mad at it and quitting tho.

This is great to play on the huge screen, with scenery and mud flying by. Yeah, it's tough, but c'mon, it's rally racing! It's supposed to be. It makes it a lot more rewarding in the end.
