xbox question
 

Alright, i bought my xbox last saturday, and fable, beat it, but thats beside the point, i go to play some more fable today, and my controller wont respond, i press start to skip the opening stuff, and nothing happens, so i pull the cable from the xbox and put it back in, still nothing, then i pull the cable from the cable, you know, the little break away thing, and put it back, still nothing, i turn off the system, fire it back up, nothing. Finally i look at the cable head piece that goes in the system and one of the little metal things, is bent up into the thing, i take some tweezers and try to bend it back, but that aint happening, anybody got any ideas on how i should go about fixing this? can i buy just that little part on the cable(little break away thing to the head that goes in the system)?

Ok, this is kinda bastardly, but this is what you do;

Go buy Halo.
Buy another controller.
Return your broken controller in the box of the new controller, and get your money back.

The Halo part is optional, but highly encouraged :)

I don't know if you can buy the stock piece of cable, but you can buy an extension. I bought two at Wal-mart, in a bargain bin, for about $10.

They look exactly like the breakaway piece, but are much, much longer.

Have fun breaking in that X-Box. :thumbsup:

I don't mean to ask the obvious, but this happened to me while playing Fable. Did you wait until after all the Ad screens went by, and then try to skip the FMV and get to the main menu? For some reason, every now and again, Fable won't let me skip the Ad screens. I have to wait until about 5 seconds into the beginning of the intro FMV before it responds to my controller and lets me skip to the menu. I also know that many other people on some other forums are experiencing the same deal. Hopefully that is the problem so it saves you a headache with fixing the controller.

Best way to fix bent pins: pencil eraser. In this case, the space is too small, so try a toothpick or a plastic knife. I have a knack for breaking XBox controllers (my count is up to 3 now, all of them from Ninja Gaiden)

I've seen the little breakaway headers for sale separately. Gamespot has them, and they are cheap. Good luck!

thanks peeps, and dont worry sun, im trading in fable and getting halo, and i did about that bastardly thing, i did it when my ps2 broke, it was great, but thanks tuber, ill check gamestop out next time in town

Yes, Gamestop almost surely has them used... only a couple bucks (maybe $4.99 at most).

You shouldn't get Halo, just wait for Halo 2 (which is a few months away).

Why? No matter how good Halo2 is, Halo is STILL a great game! One that is cheap, I might add. :D

well, i didnt want to play halo 2 without playing the first one, but i think im gonna wait till halo 2 comes out so all my friends who get halo 2 will let me borrow halo, then ill beat it, and buy halo 2, ill get something else to hold me over for now
