How is it that this game can keep my playing over and over again? Games in the Quake/Unreal genre just haven't been able to keep my interest, but for some reason I can play dust2 for hours on end!

Cheating is still a problem, but I will admit it, I've fooled around with some of them :D I don't use them anymore and I would like to see them go, but they can be fun on servers that allow them :)

Counter-strike is addictive. It keeps my attention nonstop killing the newbs that are inevitably on every server. I've found a great place here in Buffalo, NY, and I think it's a great idea. It's called CyberJocks, and it's a place where people can go to play games (CS mostly) on the lan hack-free.

I hate hacks, although I do admit they're fun if you're just playing with friends, you can really piss people off.

In true CS fashion I am going to call both of you hackers. Throw you in a free "OMG!!!!11!1!1!11!!1!!" and claim the I could ownz both of joo.

everyone who played it "Since teh beginning" always says the earlier version were always better (Beta 4 fo life! kinda guys). I started playing at 1.3 and it seems it only got better as the new ones came out. I guess I'm gonna be one of those people that preach "1.5 fo life" as soon as 1.6 comes out :p/

Doesn't matter what version your like, because you can only get servers for the latest version.

Well, not really.. I still see a lot of 1.3 & 1.4 servers around.

And 1.6 is out, but you have to use that stupid Steam program... I dunno... I'll just stick with 1.5 until they just make 1.6 a patch, or I have the time to figure out what Steam is all about.

I still love counter-strike, however 1.2ish I also found was much more fun then the newer patches

Anyone here remember the Speed-Cheating crises of the old days?
That was my first, last, and only hack for that game. The speed cheaters were everywhere on every server, so I just gave up and joined the mayhem. AND IT WAS GODDAMN FUCKING FUN! I never laughed so hard watching the slow pokes chase after me all the while I unload my Para clip at them in under 1 sec. In TFC I played as the Heavy Weapons Guy and was killing snipers with my one-shot shotgun from accross the map (It fired like a perfectly accurate Chain-gun!) humiliating any sniper caught in my path.
On Jeepathon It got to the part where enemys would stop trying to shoot me, and in turn I just stood close to them in a mocking fashion, observing them as if I were an invincible god. As soon as they would point their guns at me, I'd be out of sight.
So many good memories from that time.

Yet I was glad when Valve finally fixed it and we all went back to normal CS(For a while I thought CS was ruined for good). Was anyone else tempted by this cheat in the old days?

Speed hacking is fun :) I was playing a LAN game and turned it on once and no body could figure out how I moved so fast (I was playing a bunch of noobs)! Then I turned on aim bot and wall hack and had some more fun, then told them all how to do it, too. It is quite interesting when everybody is cheating!

Did anyone happen to save my former reasons for "loving" CS? I forgot them. :confused:

i remeber CS but after DC(desert combat mod for 1942) came out i play less and less CS.

now, CS isn't even installed.

im one of your "Since teh beginning" people. the reason i liked previous versions better than current ones is because every time a new version came out, there would be something i didn't like. they would alter speeds, levels, game rules..... Then when i started liking a new version, they would release another one. i stopped playing the game about 4 months ago so im not aware of recent changes, but the changes from the beginning up until about 1.0 were huge. the ones after 1.0 were bug fixes/tweaks for the most part

I also enjoy CS, but its more fun over a lan, where you can punch the n00b next to you for fucking up..

well i have to agree that CS is probably the most addicting game i've ever played. i hacked for a while in 1.4 but i got booted out of all my favorite servers. and all my friends thought i had a 7:1 ratio but i got owned when i lanned them. when i first started playing CS again, v1.5 was out and i tried to limit my playing time to the weekends. it didn't work

mmm CS. I love it. Great game, can't say much more. The 1.6 is pretty damned good in my opinion and I really like the Steam thing. Quite a step up.

I play cs too much. I have mah own server. Goddamn addicting ass game. If you do play, and like to have fun, feel free to check it out. We put over 300 sounds on our server, and if you want to hear them, you'd have to dl teh soundpacks from our website.

We also run the warcraft3 mod and the forcemod (star wars), and hook mod, just to make things a little different.

Anyone who ever hacked is really pathetic, unless it was with friends for fun.

To cheat in single player I can accept if it is too hard and you don't have the time. In multiplayer, however, it pisses everyone off and it makes you into an asshole.

I've been playing since beta 5.1 (or 2) whatever one it was, yeah i'm old sk00l, really been on and off, leaving for months at a time, I don't think i ever played cs 1.2, or from 6.5b to 7.3b, still a great game, that only has gotten better with time. 1.6 15 g0nn4 fux11n pwnz!

i started playing before that p90 came out and was ultra accurate and ultra powerful in that first beta. that was fucking good times. loved cs before it became a huge thing ;D
