X2: Wolverine's Revenge
This game is being slammed like a $2 whore on the net in terms of reviews, anyone here actually played it? I've pre-ordered a copy but it hasn't arrived in New Zealand yet.
People are saying the graphics are crap, they look ok, a little blocky but it's based on a comic. The snow effects look great and the story is written by guys who write the comic so that's pretty solid. So, please speak up if you've played it :) |
I rented the game... and the fact that you can always heal is alright. You can tell the game is designed for kids because when you hit someone in the arm the arm does not fall off and there is no blood. Fighting is fun but gets old because of the lack of blood
|
The game is cool. I like the healing over time idea. The "Sense" mode is pretty helpful too, it sucks that you have to be in sense mode in order to pull off a stealth kill, but the animations more than make up for it.
Now the bad parts... This is one of the most frustrating games i've played. There is no in-game save feature so if you get close to the end of a level and you get killed(and you will)...its back to the beginning. but if you dont get frustrated easily then you'll like the game...you may even grow to love it. But i wouldn't count on it. |
I just acquired it for the PC, I also just cancelled my pre-order for it. The slow free-look and unresponsive controls are horrendous, and don't get me started about camera angles! The idea is awesome, gfx are below average, voice acting is great but the gameplay is shallow. So much lost potential...
EDIT: I played a little bit more, the scripting element is very nice! And makes the game a bit more fun. But controls taste like digested horse-radish cow shit. |
No blood. What the fuck!! How can you have a game with a mutant with indestructible-razor-sharp claws and not have blood at all! Now I will not play it. Plus, as Deflok said, it is getting killed by all the reviewing sites.
When will they ever make a good X-men game. There haven't ever been any good ones made IMO. |
There was an X-Men game on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive that was totally sweet, haven't liked an X-game since though.

Crap. I'm glad I decided to read this thread. I was about to go out and get a copy, but right now, I might just consider holding off. It sounds like it's as big a let-down as Oni was.
|
Dude, it's worse than Oni, I was disappointed in Oni and it only cost me a few bucks.
This coming from a devout Wolvie fan. |
I rented it, and other then the story, and voice acting (althought it is a little weird hearing luke skywalker doing a wolvie impression) its crap.... I can't honestly say much else about the game that I liked. It was fun for a little, but the fighting engine is the same shit over and over. Gets very old, very fast... One of the few games I've rented this year that I haven't beat, or at least bought after renting.
|
Wow, either you guys really suck or it is that hard, because I beat it within two days of renting it, I love this game, I love the engine, I <3 Mark of Kree, and Wolvie's Revenge uses that engine. It's actually a quick game to play, considering you only have 48 hours to live...... And there is blood, it's just that body parts don't go flying all over the damn place when you start cutting ppl, which is dissapointing for us older players, but when you think about it, the game will attract the younger set and you do have to put SOME limitations on it *cry*. Anyways, the storyline moves the game along quite nicely, the fighting is awesome, a little redundant, but that's why you play the game, so that you can get better moves that are just sexy as hell and you need a new pair of pants after viewing them. Stealth kills are awesome and very useful, you get to beat the hell out of Sabertooth, Magneto, Juggernaut, AND Lady Deathstrike, I think it's an all around good game. The controls don't feel very clunky at all, maybe cuz I was playing the GC version and there aren't that many buttons on the GC controller, but I would say rent it to try it out, because I thoroughly enjoyed playing it, even after I beat the game I wanted to play it more and more cuz I just loved those oh so sexy special attacks, or maybe it's cuz I'm a little bit on the sadistic side. Oh well, just give the game a fair shot before you shoot it down.

so...the gamecube version is good, but the pc and PS2 versions suck???
