Full Spectrum Warror... Anyone getting it?
Full Spectrum Warrior (XBox, PC later this year) is a military game, in which you, the player, act more as a commanding officer than a troop in the trenches. In the game, you give orders to two units as they infiltrate and neutralize a middle-Eastern city.
It is a strategy game, and not a first person shooter. You don't take control of one of the soldiers; you give them orders, and they act on those orders. You can point out areas you want your squad to fire at, but the game is certainly not a first-person shooter. That is important to know right off the bat, because if you are expecting Ghost Recon or an action-packed FPS, this game won't be for you. That being said, is anyone looking forward to picking this game up? It will actually be in stores tomorrow (June 2nd), and IGN has already put up a nice, long, review of it. The game supports Co-op play on XBox Live, and has 3 total difficulty levels (the last of which is unlockable). For those interested, IGN's review of Full Spectrum Warrior can be found HERE. IGN gave it a 9.2/10 and the biggest negative appears to be game length. It is a 10-12 hour game, and online play is limited strictly to 2 player co-operative play. I think it would have been great to allow players to take the sides of the Terrorist as well online and have a sort of "chess match," but that implementation would likely take a lot more work that originally thought. Is anyone thinking of picking the game up? Also, if anyone has picked it up already and wants to post feedback or a review, please do! |
I think I'll skip this one...from an action platformer fan's point of view- It's probably a little too hands off for me.
But that's a helluva review score. |
I've played through it, and though I really enjoyed it, I'd reccommend renting it first. On account of the replay value, which isn't all that high, even with coop.

I was thinkign about it.

I'm more of a fan of tactical FPS (e.g. Operation Flashpoint) and, although it does seem interesting, this sort of game just seems so hard to control.
