Lord of the Rings: The Third Age announced

Quote:
From Gamespot:
The Lord of the Rings juggernaut has been one of the few film franchises to make the transition to the gaming realm without too rough of a trip. The first two games released by Electronic Arts managed to re-create the satisfying experience of hacking orcs to death and saving Middle-earth from the evil of Sauron. Players who managed to make it to the end of last year's Return of the King were treated to a cryptic teaser for a game dubbed The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. EA ended speculation on what kind of game Trilogy would be today with the announcement of The Lord of the Rings, The Third Age, the game formerly known as The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The game will send players on a quest that will span the events from all three films and let you interact with more than a few familiar faces. We had the opportunity to talk to Steve Gray, executive producer for The Lord of the Rings, The Third Age, to find out just what's going on with the promising game.
The interview is kind of long, so here's a link. Interview

It's like someone actually read my mind. A Lord of the Rings game that plays like Final Fantasy. This game has got the potential to be awesome, even if it just lives up to a little of what it could be.

There I go, getting all hyped up, and setting myself up to be disappointed...

Oh hell, I can't help it! *wets self*

They seemed to have learned that ignoring PC gamers doesn't hurt their wallet. Small number of PC gamers = low sales. I think we're more 'hardcore' into gaming, but we represent very little in the pie chart of game sales. And when hunting games and edutainments regularly top the sales list...

Well, they released the last two Lord of the Rings games (which was a great decision, those two games were SO much better than the first one). Also, they have Ultima online and Ultima X under their belt as well. I do realize these aren't pure RPG titles, just throught I'd throw some out there to give a few examples.

Also, why am I thinking EA made the Lunar series for Sega CD(one of the best series of RPGs ever, IMO)? I don't think it was them, but my brain keeps telling me it was.

I have the ROTK game for Xbox and it does kick some ass, especially in the graphics department. Kinda loses its replay value after you've beat it with every character though.
