Halo2 release and live gossip
Hey guys
I was wondering if any of you have any more info on the release of Halo2? Rumor has it, it won't come out until the day after Thanksgiving EVEN if it's ready earlier. The Official Xbox mag is confirming a holiday release. Also, I'm hearing that players who want to play Halo2 online will not only have to pay for Xboxlive, BUT will have to subscribe to a premium service of approx $25 a month for Halo2 live. The release date is killing me, but having to pay a premium for one game, that's in excess of 250% of the current rate to play every other game...that just gripes my ass!!! Somebody quick...tell me I've been misled!

About the release date...I'll be disappointed if they don't keep working on it until it's time to ship out; there's always a bug to fix, an effect to be added, a feature to be implemented, some polygons to be touched up on, or whatever else. If it's ready before its release date, then release it earlier!
If we have to pay $25 bucks to play Halo 2 online ON TOP OF the regular X-Box Live fee, there will be many pissed people. If it was only a small fee with the X-Box Live fee, then that'd make many more people happy...and if it had no extra fee, mark my words, Halo 2 will sell itself and X-Boxes like crazy (probably more than when the X-Box and Halo first came out).

I can't believe you would believe that there would be a 25 dollar charge for ANY xbox live game... please put down the crack pipe
Halo2 will pay for any extra costs of extra servers just by all of the extra subscriptions to live it sells... Day after thanksgiving would probably be a bit late in the holiday season, typically finished games release in october in order to maximize sales and allow for the maximum amount of advertising. Also, consider that halo2 is not just about seling games but selling MORE CONSOLES. Which means release it ASAP... |

I hope that extra charge rumor is a lie. But what's sad is, if they add the 25 buck charge we will all still reluctantly hand them our credit card. Microsoft has our nuts in a vice and can squeeze them anyway they like and they know it....

come on guys, $25 a month for only Halo 2? there is no way in hell they would do that....
it will be xbox live compatible, end of discussion. the standard fee for xbox live will be the ONLY fee you have to pay. Bungie and Microsoft (as much as you hate the latter) would not make such a bad marketing move. MMORPGs don't even cost that much.....

If we take all logic with Microsoft out of the problem, the fact still remains that no one would fucking pay 25 dollars a month to play Halo 2 online. You can say you would, but you wouldn't. It's too much money for one game that isn't even an MMORPG..... it would be slightly different if there wasn't a cover charge for xbox live already implemented. but there is! they won't throw another figure into the equation. it would push away too many potential customers

Yeah, that rumor is bullshit, there's no way ms would do that. It'd be suicide for the system to do a double charge like that. It wouldn't make sense for ANY company to do that, not even Microsoft, with all its money and shit, wouldn't have the grapes to charge anything above what it already charges for its proprietary online service.

I can't wait for this game. I really doubt the rumor about the additional fee. One of the things that I am worried about is that XBox magazine said that they hadn't seen the human pistol in any of the screenshots or demos of the game. I hope they didn't take it out, that gun rules for secret sniping(no vapor trail to give you away)
