Online Hold'em
I am interested in playing texas hold'em online and was wondering if anybody has had any experience with online gameing. There was an article in nyt http://www.nytimes.com/2004/03/19/nyregion/19poker.html
suggesting that payments can be made through Net Teller (canadian paypal), or with checks. I guess checks seem a bit sketchy to me. Any opinions or suggestions are greatly appreciated. |

I've played partypoker.com, mostly 'cause I saw them on World Poker Tour. I haven't done any real money yet, but the interface and players are real good, and there's usually plenty of space. Most credit cards protect your payments, and I'm sure no on-line company wants their name tainted by fraud charges anyway.

another one you can try is paradisepoker.com
they too let you set up an account free of charge and play the game for free using "bank money" needs no CC to play or anything also heard pokerstars.com was pretty cool however not played there before so i dont know for sure.

I play all the time online. I started at PartyPoker but now play at UltimateBet. The first six months were a learning experience. I've tightened up my game considerably and have even won a multi-table tournament to bring me way back into the positive territory. I've been keeping my head above water since. (I use pokercharts.com to track my play.)
All the sites I know of offer free games so you can test their software. It's fun to try out but, of course, people play WAY differently when it's not real money... I funded my accounts through Neteller and am OK with it. It takes 5 working days to get money from your checking into the Neteller account (verifying funds) but it goes from Neteller to your poker account within seconds (once your neteller account is funded, you "pull" the money from within the poker program). Transfering money from the poker account to Neteller is significantly faster and it goes to your checking within a day (my experience). My first preference was to fund with a credit card but none of my cards allowed it. Nor did my bank cards acting as credit cards.

I've been playing real money on Pokerroom.com for about 2 years and I still love that site. I've tried ultimatebet.com and truepoker.com but I didnt get into those 2 that much. I recently deposited on partypoker so I could get their offer of 300 free poker chips, and I got them last week. A real great deal.

I've played on partypoker, poker stars, paradise poker, and ultimate bet. Out of the 4, I think poker stars and partypoker are the worst in terms of interface. Paradise poker has a good interface, but I like ultimate bet the most. I only play on there now, and they have a TON of freeroll multi table tournaments.

As a veteren of 10 yrs of every type of poker around the west coast. I have recently for almost a year now play almost exclusively online. In fact I am now playing an omaha game at Ultimate Bet as I write this. UB has the best variety of low-limit tourny's. You might enjoy the pot-limit and no-limit games with buy in's as low as $1. Try games like 7-card and split games for variety and keep it interesting. The best pay-offs come from playing in muti-table tournaments. A $5.50 buy in can with a grand a more. As for depositing a bankroll, I use my debit card with no-fee FirePay and play 1 minute later. Remeber to not overplay your hand. Just check and call untill you are sure your hand is the best. Be patient and have a good time!

I'm on partypoker but i'm going to check out ulitimate bet.. PP seems to be havin some interface and connectivity problems lately. I would advise just as others do. Play at the play money tables for a while. I'm still there till I think I've learned the game well enough to play online with the big boys

I play at poker pages. I play free, but did try to register with Net teller. None of my Credit Cards or Deb cards were excepted. There was an option to set up a direct draw from my checking account, but I didn't take it.
I wish they took pay pal!!! Does anyone have a recomendation for an on-line casino that is easy to set up for real $$ ? John |

pokerroom.com is the best place to play esp with "play money"...
party poker if your playing for fake money will screw u up if your just trying to learn (stats/hands to play/ etc) you don't save your money that you make in party poker so people go all in on sh*t hands just for the hell of it...atleast w/ pokerroom you keep the "fake money" |
