In the past few months, the latest Grand Theft Auto has continuously been rumored as Grand Theft Auto: Sin City, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Grand Theft Auto: Next Episode. To make things even more confusing, Rockstar Games registered those names for internet sites in addition to other titles like Grand Theft Auto: Bogota and Grand Theft Auto: Tokyo. Unless these are potential future cities for the franchise, these names were most likely done to create red herrings for the press and fans of the series.

In the original Grand Theft Auto, San Andreas was a city that was based on San Francisco. Sections of the city in the game had names that were variations of the names of different Bay Area neighborhoods. With the hilly nature of the city by the bay, gamers might be seeing some more terrain than previous installments.

With over 11.5 million copies of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and over 10.5 million copies of Grand Theft Auto 3 being sold worldwide, there's a lot of pressure to make the next installment live up to the name. Leslie Benzies, President of developer Rockstar North, acknowledged this by stating, "We are extremely humbled by the success of the Grand Theft Auto series and it has made us push ourselves further than ever to create a title in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas that will hopefully redefine the Grand Theft Auto series and revolutionize open-ended gameplay and video game production values.

Ain't that some shit. Better add that to the list then.

Definately, Metroid Prime is my all time favourite game ever, beating out Sonic and Knuckles is a hard achievement.

GTA:SA is gonna be HUGE. Each of the areas in San Andreas are as big as Vice City.

I'd say FF12, but that's not till next year.

IT'S DONE!!!!!!!

Yes, this is the official word that DOOM 3 has been code released and has been approved for manufacturing!
It won't be long now until the anticipation ends and the PH34R begins ;-) We literally just hung up with
Activision and have confirmed that our latest release candidate has been mutually approved and is finally
GOLD. Thanks to everyone for their patience (yeah right! =) and for everyone at id, Activision and our
numerous partners for helping us create what I believe is absolutely the best game we have ever made.

So, the next question is release dates. Retailers in the States will be allowed to pick up games starting
at 12:01 AM on August 3rd. The official street date is actually August 5th in the U.S.A., but some of
your favorite stores will probably have it early for those of you who have to have it first. Check with
your local retailer for that information.

Internationally, the game will take a few more days to make it to the store shelves. The UK will probably get it first, on or about August 6th. Everywhere else will probably be Friday, August 13th (que Twilight Zone Theme) or close to that date, with just a few exceptions (e.g. Russia and Poland). This isn't
because we don't have love for you folks outside the U.S., but the localization and manufacturing process
takes a bit longer outside the U.S. where we will have JVC run 24/7 to get the units built. I guess the
European manufacturers prefer to give their employees nights and weekends off. Go figure!

The champagne is flowing here at id and smiles abound!

I'll update again with some DOOM 3 preparation tips (not what hardware to buy - you'll have to wait for
a programmer for that sort of thing). In the meantime, I want to see those "DOOM 3 GOLD!!!" threads set
new records for swamping message board servers, destroying productivity, and post counts ;-)

I normally wouldn't do this, but since this is some pretty big news, I'm gonna post it anways, and NOT start a new thread or 20 (ahem, Doom 3).

Ok, now that I've quintiple-posted, I'm pretty sure that no one's really interested in this thread, but in any case I'm gonna say this. I was browsing through IGN earlier this morning, and I had to say it, November is gonna be one busy fucking month. Outside of what's happening on GC (Metroid Prime 2: Echoes) and XBOX (Halo 2), here's what's going for PS2. This is incredible.

Well, what a relief, only $588 for the GC route. Damn, what a collection. If you get all the console exclusives plus the ones that aren't exclusives, you still end up with 18 damn games!!! Holy bejesus! That's $963, all for the best and brightest the consoles have to offer us!!! Granted, you might not buy all these games, you may just buy one, maybe even just one from one console, but shit, you cant' say that the big guns aren't being whipped out this year!

good for '04 hmm? where should i begin?

Top four most anticipated hands down are:
1. Fable
2. Halo 2
3. GTA: San Andreas
4. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (at least it's looking for an '04 launch but '04 is coming to an end soon and it still has no release date)

The good games of '04 that have already been released:
1. Star Wars: KOTOR
2. Tales of Symphonia
3. Ninja Gaiden
4. Burnout 3 (apparently was really good though i've never played,but gamespot gave it one of the highest ratings i've seen them give yet, 9.5/10)

Sleepers would have to be:
1. Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles
2. Star Wars Battlefront (Is actually an enjoyable game)
3. Viewtiful Joe 2 (liked the 1st one, hope the second one meets the expectations)
4. DBZ Budokai 3 (will come out hopwfully before the end of the year)
5. Pikmin 2 was a good one
6. Need for Speed: Underground

Technically it came out in '03 but Soul Calibur II is still, hands down, the best fighting game outPERIOD

I'm really looking forward to Halo 2. I've preordered already and will be picking it up on Tuesday, the 9th at Midnight. I can't wait for the multiplayer goodness.
I think Forza has a chance to be something special as well.
