Zalman 5.1 Surround Sound HEADPHONES!

I just purchased the Zalman 5.1 surround Sound Headphones from ZipZoomfly.com and plugged them in to my 5.1 sound card, Damn they are great. I can really hear directional sounds when I'm playing Call of Duty. A real edge. At $55, no tax, no shipping, I recommend them.

how is the bass response? oftentimes the only way to get a decent bass with headphones is to jack up the volume to where the higher frequencies irritate the ears. i'd be interested if this set performed well in that way.

I find them just a little weak in bass compared to a standard 5.1 set up, but certainly adequate.

I got these at www.xoxide.com for $35 + around $6 shipping, during one of their xhour sales (every sunday from 9-10pm EST). They are very heavy, but great for games when you cant have you speakers on. If its just for music, definitely get some lighter headphones!

As for the bass, its acceptable for headphones, but really nothing compared to a nice 5.1 speaker set up.

I've been thinking of getting something like this. I'm playing CoD myself and everything always sounds like its comming from behind me, which is really annoying.
Thanks for the info.

bit-tech.net reviewed them and said they were basically shit. I about bought them on X-Hour one time, but I'm glad I didn't.

I suggest you reconsider, I found them to be overall excellent. Check Tom's Hardware Guide. Tom's Review

Pretty interesting. I'm not a big fan of headphones though (all that stuff makes my ears ache), but if I have to purchase a pair it will be a cheapy pair of Koss probably :)

How are the headphones on your ears? Like Redjake, I prefer using speakers instead of my headphones because it hurts my ears after a while.

I prefer speakers too, but the family when sleeping do not. A little noticeable, but not the worst I've worn. I can play and forget they are on.

Be sure to adjust them to where they are completely comfortable. Because they are so heavy, your ears will get sore after a while (1hr+) if they arent on your head right.
