UT2004 Demo out!

Run and go get it!

I recommend these two mirrors:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/nzone_u...downloads.html
http://gamefiles.blueyonder.co.uk/bl...04betademo.exe

There's always Fileplanet or Fileshack or Filerush if those don't work.

messy 02-11-2004 04:45 PM

Good. Another reason to use my fileplanet subscription. 380k/s
:D

Destrox 02-11-2004 07:06 PM

Lasereth 02-11-2004 08:05 PM

Wow! That's pretty damn fun. I played for a good 20 minutes on the same level. My Athlon XP 1900+ with 768 MB PC2100 and GeForce 4 TI4200 ran it at 1024*768 with all settings turned on to the maximum at about 45 FPS. Very nice! I tend to not enjoy twitch style FPS, but I've always been a fan of the UT games.

Looks like this one will have better music. It also has an absence of the annoying announcer from 2K3.

its got me sold, i didnt like 2k3 but i love UT :)

looks like i will play this version a lot :D

junglistic 02-11-2004 10:31 PM

not bad at all. i gave that train mission a go.. i really dont have time to take on a new game, but i think they're will be a purchase scheduling for ut2k4

BuddyHawks 02-11-2004 11:30 PM

Prepare for download...Engage!

Lokus 02-12-2004 12:01 AM

I wasn't a real big fan of vanilla UT2k3, I mostly play Red Orchestra and waiting for certain mods to come out but UT2k4 is tons of fun. The new mode, onslaught, is immensely fun and exciting especially with all the vehicles. My favorite is the scorpion, it has these blades that extend on either side and you can mow down helpless pedestrians. I'm equally glad to see assault back as well. The map they included is extremely well made and has very good flow.

I can't wait for the full version to come out, hell I might even get the special edition.

Plan9Senior 02-12-2004 02:08 AM

Wow, this game suprised me. I really enjoy it :) I recommend the download!

livewirerc 02-12-2004 06:33 AM

Holy shit, I can't wait 'till this is released! I loved UT but haven't been big on 2K3. This looks much more promising. :)

the_marq 02-12-2004 06:37 AM

Has anyone been able to get the online component working? I don't think I am the only one having trouble with it (but anything's possible :))

cas305 02-12-2004 07:45 AM

Well you guys have talked me into it, I saw the demo last night and bypassed it becasue I didn't like 2k3 either. The idea of vechicles sounds like they are trying to make it good and not just sell by name.

NeverBorn 02-12-2004 07:52 AM

...I need a new computer :(

Ripsaw 02-12-2004 08:01 AM

But I love the announcer...

FLAK MONKEY!!!

Mastershredder 02-12-2004 02:54 PM

Awesome. I wasn't a fan of 2K3 either, but i'll give this a shot... i'll post my review in a bit.

powerclown 02-12-2004 03:00 PM

Thanks for the link; everybody has it, but of course you have to register.

thanks! good links..

Alright, so, here's a question for all of you that say you didn't like UT2K3 but didn't like this one. Why? I mean, I'm a big fan of all the UTs thus far cause I think its really fast paced action. I really liked UT2K3 too cause its, well, all that in a shiny graphics engine. So what don't you like, aside from the anouncer, about 2K3, and why is this one so much better?

Mr_Q 02-12-2004 05:40 PM

Sweet... I never really got all that into UT2K3... But I certainly enjoyed the time I spent with it.

I'm downloading the demo now...

The movements are like the original UT which is great. UT2k3 didn't appeal to a lot of the original UT playerbase because it didn't "feel" like its predecessor. This one, however, does... and I am having a blast in Onslaught!

Redjake 02-12-2004 06:36 PM

this is THE funnest multiplayer game I've played since Battlefield 1942/Desert Combat came out. I can't stop playing it :) It gives Halo a run for it's money in the vehicles department (mainly because it has huge amounts of carnage and pieces of shit fly everywhere!!! and face it, blowing some one in half while they are in a humvee is FUN!!!!!!!!!!)

ONSLAUGHT is the funnest fucking thing in the entire UNIVERSE!!!!

Who would have thought something so simple would be so fun.....I already like this better than UT2k3

Wulf_Hunter 02-12-2004 08:16 PM

I agree, with all of the above, but gotta add the SNIPER RIFLE is back :D

bltzkriegmcanon 02-12-2004 08:20 PM

yep, all these things are good news. I'll definitely have to pick this title up when it hits our shores.

Plan9Senior 02-12-2004 09:19 PM

I'm really liking the lock-on missle launcher :p

Mr.Deflok 02-12-2004 09:35 PM

Will download this soon as, just finishing up a 2.1 GB download, fucking hurry up!

ToolBag 02-12-2004 10:16 PM

What the hell are you downloading at 2.1GB?

tokaok 02-13-2004 01:28 AM

yup demo got me sold, 2k4 is a definate buy, they fixed all the things that made me not buy 2k3.
2k3 didnt feel like a UT game, 2k4 is most definately UT.

as a side note i was able to downloaded at 415 kBs by using a torrent link(please seed til you a at least a 1/1 ratio).
i stopped my fileplanet subscription 4 months ago since bittorrent doesnt a great job already at highdemend distribution of huge files.

Most Torrent-whores know that 2.1 GB isn't that big of a file :)

My Mystic River screener was 3.6 GB..........Need for Speed: Underground was over 2 also I believe.......

it's not rare anymore to go above 2 GB in a file on bit torrent

Cordachine007 02-13-2004 11:21 AM

I have played computer games since the Kings Quest series and before. In recent years though, I have began to leave the computer for the PS2. With Doom3 coming out very soon, and now UT2004, I may return to my roots!

NeverBorn 02-13-2004 06:06 PM

Its really cool

VF19 02-13-2004 09:00 PM

*gasps*
No respawn time?

First Atari game a real winner in my book.

Used to Wolfenstein and BF1942 with annoying bitchy 30 second respawn times. Wished I had saved my money by not buying those games, and buying this one.

cyclone 02-13-2004 11:50 PM

ITS SO FUN i played for like 6 hours straight

BuddyHawks 02-14-2004 12:51 AM

Onslaught is going to rule at the next LAN. Can see it taking the place of Battlefield.

Tis why I got it.

Really though I like it better then UTK3. It could be fun, so far it is like planetside but less laggy and less people.

y'know, I was thinking the same thing :). I was always a huge CTF player, but at the moment I cannot get myself away from Onslaught :D

Aletheia 02-14-2004 04:32 AM

Onslaught is freaken awesome. :D

Spanky Johnson 02-14-2004 08:30 AM

Wow -- looking forward to this, especially after reading some of these posts. Like a lot of people, I loved the original UT, but didn't care much for 2003. If this goes back to its UT roots, I'm in. I only wish I was ready to buy my new computer...I have the money, but I'm trying to discipline myself to wait for the summer when some new stuff I want is coming out.

Plan9Senior 02-14-2004 11:19 AM

Would be cool if we could get a TFP server up so I could play with some of you all :).

keef 02-16-2004 08:45 AM

that IS a good idea....if such a thing is being considered, i vote for onslaught as gametype..

digme 02-16-2004 07:10 PM

wow... I'm hooked. I've been avoiding FPS for awhile, but this makes me want to come back.
