True Crime, Streets of LA, soon for PC!
 

So I see ads for True Crime, Streets of LA and think I almost want to buy a console for it. Today I see an ad that says "soon for the PC" so I'm psyched.

Does anyone want to offer up and opinion on this game versus Vice City?

What s good about this game?

A few people I've talked to said they liked it more than Vice City. To me, they're just different games with different target audiences. I bought it for the GC and I have absolutely no regrets. Sure, it's not as visually stunning as VC but it's an overall solid game. There's just something satisfying about being able to choose to arrest drug dealers or just run them over and still get points for solving the crime.

I'd suggest it, but not over Vice City. Well...maybe.

Yeah, it's a different take on the genre. It has some wierd points, like the required shithouse camera, as well as the fact that there are 4 determined gameplay modes: General Outdoor, Indoor Stealth, Indoor Combat, Indoor Shooting. As you go along, you get skills that you can use indoors, but most of them you can't use outside, which is infuriating. One example is when you get the ability to attack opponents on the ground. If you've knocked someone down outside, you have to wait for them to get back up before hitting them again. Generally, I feel that the driving engine beats GTA, but the on-foot part is lacklustre. Some great parts, though.

The game looked really weird to me. I've never played it, but it looks interesting as well as weird. The part that gets me is the multitude of gameplay modes, as hulk said. I would think it would be hard to juggle all of those into one sweet package without one of them sucking. The graphics look ok. I might give it a try

A friend of mine has it for PS2 and the graphics looked pretty choppy and broken to me. The controls looked okay, but could be more polished. One of these days, i'll probably play it and see how it is, but right now, i'm getting pretty sick of the whole GTA style gameplay.

There are similarities between the two games but Vice City has a much longer lifespan.

I suppose it's because running around shooting / beating up / decapitating passers-by is more fun than frisking / arresting them (in a video game scenario, obviously).

It's a good game just beat it on Xbox. It puts Driving, Fighting, and Shooting in one game which is neat.

Something to look forward to is that the PC version will feature Multiplayer!!!

maybe this time they can make sure the game has a tolerable frame rate at all times. The shit that goes on in the commercials makes it look like the frame drops to about 2 per second.

I read where the call it Max Payne meets GTA. Sounds like a tough show to fill!

I beat it will all three alternate endings within 3 days, playing about 2 hours each day. A renter, it's kinda fun but never groundbreaking. Got stupid once the storyline started to include supernatural shit.

It's going to be very dificult to be a better port than Vice City.

The title True Crime would suggest it's a hard-boiled real-life crime story but as ironchefkorea mentioned it has supernatural elements, zombies and ancient Chinese magic, absolutely ridiculous for a game of this type.

The only reason I'm interested in the PC port at the moment is for the multiplayer, can't wait to see how they pull it off.

I rented it for Xbox and now I wanna buy it. Being from L.A. myself I found it very funny. The local stereotypes crack me up.

Spent the last 2 hrs trying to find the 30 bones around the city to unlock Snoop Dog mode.

i read a lot of BAD reviews for the game, even though i was on the edge of my seat waiting for it to come out on PC... man why did i read those bad reviews!? well can someone please post up a review here? ill search for it once it comes out, i hope its as good as the commercial make it look! gogo online mode???

I heard the game is really overrated. I heard that it isnt as good as it looks. However i also heard it was great, i think i would want to play the game personally before i got too excited, but thats just me.

the gameplay is awesome.. but it is really short and that is dissapointing. Thats what makes it such a good rent
