The reason people dislike review sites is because it's opinion made public that some find disagreeable. If someone doesn't share the same view some people automatically dislike them.

I'm picking up FF:CC since I have 2 friends that have GBAs and GCNs. We will just have to get 2 more GCN-GBA cables since I took advantage of the "Pre-order FF:CC and get a free GCN-GBA cable" deal.

Yeah, just ordered the game, 2 day free shipping, and free link cable, so i took advantage of that deal.

My friends are gamers with similiar tastes, they don't just hop onto whatever just came out and automatically love it. I've played shitloads of games, and so have they, and I would take a very non-ambgious 'it's pretty kickass and has a stupid story, but the controls have a learning curve' - or some other similiar remark - over the 4 pages of shit that can't just seem to tell me whether a game was fun or not. This isn't some highart, it's an entertainment medium with too many people that have standards beyond just having fun. I also play before I pay for games too a lot, so maybe that's why I don't rely on reviews aswell.
