Counterstrike issues on laptop
I'm trying to play CS on my IBM T40 laptop, but I'm having some problems with my controls..
My keyboard controls stick. For example, if I tap the left key, it'll move hard left, as if I held the key for a couple of seconds. As well, sometimes the controls are a little sluggish to respond.. the corresponding action occurs a second after I press the key. My second issue is with my mouse. My mouse stops detecting movements when I'm playing.. it only works at maybe 30-40% of its ability. So I'm getting shot at, and the whole time, I'm trying to move my crosshair over, but the mouse won't respond. Other times, the mouse jumps (but I can deal with that, it only happens occasionally). The mouse is a Logitech Wheelmouse, by the way. I crossposted this in Tilted Computers. Any help would be appreciated. Note: I just tried again.. my mouse only lags when I'm pressing keys on my keyboard while I'm moving the mouse around. |
Switch to software rendering and drop your resolution by one setting, should fix it

sounds like your laptop is not very good.
care to post some specs? |
This issue is most likely due to your graphics card, or graphics mode in the game. What model of the T40 are you running? If it has an AGP 4x integrated card with more than 16mb of memory, your problem is probably in your settings.
Try updating your graphics drivers, and changing the video mode in counterstrike. OpenGL looks the best and runs the fastest. Direct3d runs alright but looks like crap, I've only used it when openGL was not an option. Software mode is the most taxing on your system and looks the worst (cause there's no graphics acceleration). Which mode are you currently running? |
Yea, update the drivesr to your card. Then if that doesn't work drops the rez, sometimes you gotta sacrifice looks for power.

I'm pretty sure it's not my graphics card, because these problems are occuring in both OpenGL and Software rendering modes.
I have the latest drivers, but I think I'm going to try rolling back to a previous version.. I can't seem to find old IBM-specific drivers though. The normal ones found at ATI's site don't recognize my Mobile Radeon 7500, and won't change its drivers. My computer is not bad at all.. IBM T40 Intel Centrino 1.5 Gig 512 RAM 40Gig 5400 RPM Mobile Radeon 7500 (64 megs, I think?) |
