a question for the poker players out there
Hey everyone. I've been a poker player for a while, but never anything too serious. The occasional game with friends, 5 or 10 bucks each with no more buy-ins.
I was just wondering if there is a PC version of poker that wasn't with real money. I'm not looking to get into online gambling, but wanted to have a few games here and there. Also, I'm a fan of texas hold 'em but was looking to learn a few more styles. if there are any games that have different styles, that would be cool too. any links or suggestions would be great. Even a default 5 card poker game would be cool. i just wanted to play around when i'm bored of freecell thanks in advance. |

Yahoo Games is definitely good, if done right
If you want to use Yahoo games (which is good), you'll need to look into setting up private tables. The one problem I have with YG is if you're on a public table, since it's not "real" money, people will be much more aggressive with betting than they would be if they were using their own cash.

I just started two days ago at PartyPoker.com playing Texas. It's really well set up and I've had no problems yet. You can use real money or fake.

I would have to agree with high stakes poker at Pogo.com. Its free and fun and there is also a chance to win the Jackpot which is around $1400. Ive tried partypoker.com, I loved it when I could actually get in a room.

I'd just like to second Partypoker.com. Great program/site, and completely free if that's what you're looking for. Ultimatebet.com also has a pretty good program, with free play too of course.
But, I find the fake-money games to just be really aggrivating. I primarily Texas Hold'em, which is all about strategy and counter-strategy. Unfortunatly when you're playing against people with fake-money, the whole book goes out the window cause no one really cares. They'd rather call you down to see if you're bluffing than fold their 72. Its annoying as hell sometimes =P |

I know what you mean about the free games. I just need something to play without losing my student loans
I'm not too crazy about gambling online. I'd rather be at a real table playing real cards. but that's just me. still, thanks for those links. i've checked out a couple and looks like i'll see how well paradise poker, and partypoker treat me . |

Plenty of different games at http://www.paradisepoker.com/
Also... I've been reading The Theory of Poker and I've learned a lot from it. The book is excellent. |

I admit to knowing nothing about any sort of computer gambling games, but a friend sent this the other day, and I thought it was rather interesting. If its a dog, at least it didn't cost either of us anything to find out.

A friend of mine who's big into real-life poker recommended Turbo Texas Holdem. It's made by a small outfit who are, from what I've heard, quite good at what they do. The website has a demo. But, it ain't cheap.

I play quite a bit (for the sign up bonuses, and free stuff) and partypoker.com is definitely the biggest/best room out there!
I've got a little write up on my website on how to get free stuff (casino quality poker chips, amazon.com gift certificates, etc.) by signing up for various casinos! www.idonk.com/poker.html If you have any questions let me know and I would be more than happy to help you out!

I play at www.empirepoker.com
You can play real or fake money. I play fake, my friend plays real and makes $60 an hour with it. |

I just got an email from www.ecasinodeals.com and they have some new offers! There are 2 new casinos you can do offers at, and now they have the 9g clay chips as well as a promotion for two decks of KEM playing cards (the best cards you can buy. they are made out of a plastic and last FOREVER) PLUS a 300 chip set! The cards alone are worth $25.
It also said: "You can upgrade from a 300 piece clay set to a 400 piece clay set by using the code 400UPGRADECLAY . The promotion for the 11.5 gram set is still active, use code 500UPGRADEC to go from a 300 to a 500 piece set." Unfortunately the upgrade codes dont work with the KEM deal
