Mario Kart: Double Dash

Nintendo just recently began airing commercials for the game, although I think it's another 3 weeks before it's released. You can pre-order it and get a bonus disc, if you like. EGM reviewed it and gave it two 10's and a 9.5, thus earning a Gold Medal and Game Of The Month in the magazine. This game looks to be a big hit for the Christmas holidays (which'll aid the hurting-GameCube), people, and I plan to be one of the many people to get it. My question to you is plenty simple: what do you think about it?

Side-Note: Does anyone know what's on the Bonus Disc? I saw the commercial and I don't think it even mentioned what would be on it.

I am very interested in this game. I played the heck out of the N64 one. I still want it even though I live alone and don't play my video games as much as before.

Does anyone know if you can play multiplayer with bots in this game? That would be pretty cool.

I haven't preordered it, but I know I will buy it, probably a few weeks after it comes out.

I had so much fun with Mario Kart 64, too. It was the first game I got for the N64, and one of about 6 that I kept and didn't sell away. About the bot thing though...eh, I don't think there's any bots for the multi-player mode, though I pray I'm wrong. I haven't heard one way or another, so my guess is as good as yours.

If it's anything like the last two, you can do a 2 player race with computer controlled opponents, and I'll go out on a limb and say you'll probably be able to do battlemode against the computer as well.

I can't wait for this game! I've been a huge fan of SMK since the first one on SNES.

One of the things on the bonus disc is a non-interactive video of FF:CC - There are supposed to be several interactive demos on it as well though. I don't know what those other things are as FF:CC kind of wiped everything else out of my memory.

I don't own a gamecube, but im thinking about asking for one for Christmas... and if I do, this will be one of the first games I get. I was an avid fan of the first two mario karts. Friends and I would sit there and play them all day, it was great. I'm really glad to hear that its getting good reviews, I was worried they might screw up something great. Guess I should have more faith.

I'll put up just the bonus features.

I'm planning on getting but I probably won't preorder since there isn't much TOO interesting on the bonus disc. I already played the PC version of the TMNT game that's out now for PS2, xBox and GC and it was HORRID! I was soooooo disappointed. Mario Kart will be good though, now if only I had friends that were any competition....

That's enough for me to buy it. I have a subscription to EGM; the latest issue doesn't have it reviewed. Did the even more recent issue come out? I have it shipped to my house so I don't get it until I go home.

Ah...not fantastic, but worthy of my pre-ordering of. It would have been frickin' awesome if they would have had Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 on the bonus disc instead (or even on top of the videos and demos), but it's still alright.

The December 2003 issue, Number 173 (got it about a week ago), it has some guy from Lord Of The Rings on the cover, and it's a special-edition mag where it's got five different covers (I got #1).

Well, I loved it for the SNES, got my N64 version stolen at a high school party lol, and I bought a preowned copy, lord knows how long me and my sis and friends spent on those. The good times, when games were actually different and good... Anyways, i'll probably buy this game, but i'll wait for friends to tell me how it is first.

Ah heck, that reminds me of a N64 game I lost once. My brother took it while I was gone one day and let his friend borrow it...but then that night, his friend's house burnt down. What sucks is that my game just got scorched! However, it wasn't so bad...it was just Duke Nukem 64, he he he.

Pre-ordered. This is one of those games that is so perfectly balanced, you can still have fun racing against people who are terrible at the game, and they will have fun as well. Mario Kart has never let me down. It doesn't look like that will change.

I'm looking forward to this. Been playing a lot of F-zero lately and whle very fun also very tough. I bet MKD will be a lot more reasonable in that regard. The combat mode has always been a blast to play so I will definately be picking it up.

I'm still playing the N64 version. My friend has a barn with an upper level and a dinky TV w/ an N64. Huge fan of the original, MK64 was a worthy successor.

I just don't have money or time any more, but I will probably rent it down the line, get it used if its good.

My personal review of the game, now that I've played it for afew days:

If 5 is average, 0 is pure crap, and 10 is utter perfection, I'd give it a 9. The graphics are beautiful and smooth, the music is plenty good, and the difficulty is definately there. I haven't played any multi-player or co-op yet (I can't wait though), but the Grand Prix mode has kept me plenty occupied for the past few days, and it will for awhile longer, too. I dig the whole switching-thing with the characters and weapons, especially how each character has a different special weapon. The controls are simple and makes for an easy and painless learning experience. It's just so...good! The only problem I have is that it doesn't have the same impact on me that Super Mario Kart or Mario Kart 64 did, heh, but it's hard for most games to accomplish that.

yeah the warp pipe might just make me get it. I love Mario Kart, but with no friends to play it against anymore (no one plays me in console games anymore .. they dont' like losing to me any longer...), I simply don't want to get a game where I'll want to play with friends. But now Warp Pipe.... I just might be able to still have mutliplayer fun!

My copy came in the mail last week.

So far, it's a pretty good game.
I'm a little disappointed they didn't have different music than MK64(that I heard), but I can deal. *sniff*
And yes GakFace, it has a warp pipe you drive into.
The carts are real beauties as are the game graphics.
I just wish I had a nearby neighbor to play against.
Playing against the computer gets boring afterwhile. *sigh*
Oh well, I knew what I was getting into when I bought it.

Onto the bonus disk.
I played the Teenage Mutant Turtles demo and it was great, but at the same time annoying as hell.
Every time you do a move your character says one of two or three things. It gets on my nerves.
I played the Star Wars demo and after I finished, it wouldn't let me go back to the main menu!
I had to push reset on the 'Cube.

I haven't played the other demos yet, but I watched a couple of the included movie clips, one of which was Harry Potters' Quidditch World Cup.(it looks awesome!)

Anyone know how to exit out of the Star Wars demo without resetting it?
