Chess Tournament
The TFP chess tournament is underway!!! If you wish to join please PM me with your name and contact information and I will add you to the score table.
As of now, I would like all the listed participants below to try and get in as many games with each other as possible by Januruary 10th. After the 10th, we will then be able to get a feel for skill level and establish brackets for an actual tournament. Please from this point on try and use this thread for match planning and match results and comments.. Good Luck!! I have interest.
I am a board and card games enthusiast. I am available most nights after 7 o'clock to midnight/2am PST, as well as most thursdays, all day. I can be reached on AIM @ "DCM Tetsuo." I am always on, so it would be easy to contact me. If there is more interest from others, i would really be interested in playing. |

I have interest but I wonder at the logistics.
Does Yahoo require that both players be online at the same time? Do we set a schedule and give the players a week to complete their game? (one game a week for eight weeks... 2 points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for loss... report your results by the deadline or be declared a draw... most points after 8 weeks wins... a playoff for ties?) My AIM handle is "chinwhiskers50" PM me here. I am a Yahoo member. I am a "itsyourturn.com" member. Email: chinwhiskers50-tfp@yahoo.com Convenience of playing time is problematical.

Yahoo requires both parties to be on at a single time, and it is live games. Whereas, itsyourturn.com allows you to play games over the course of a prolonged period of time.
The only problem i have with using itsyourturn.com and playing games via their service is that since most games are played over the span of a couple of days, whats to stop someone from getting outside help via a friend or a program. Also, The time it takes to play games over the course of 2 days or a week would make scoring and keeping track of games extremelly difficult. However, I can see why playing in a manner simmilar to itsyourturn.com is a good thing, it would allow players with less online time, or conflicting schedules to still be able to partake. So using thier website could benifit us in our situations. Anyways, good point, grumpyolddude. Hopefully we can find a happy medium and use both we shall only see.. |

i wouldn't mind playing, but I'm seriously a beginner--like 1200 or so.
i don't see why itsyourturn wouldn't work. as long as there are no REAL prizes, i doubt anyone would cheat...and as far as the tournament taking an excessively long amount of time, what's wrong with that?

Ok we currently have 10 people wishing to play including myself.
I am going to go ahead and add some additional rules now... ------------------------------------------------------- Rules I would like to see all of us get in as many games as possible against one and other by Januruary 10th. After you and another person have played a game please post the results of your match in this forum. I will update the scoring table in my original post as the games commence. As of now, try and limit your games to playing against those llisted as participants. ---------------------------------------------------------- Anyone that wishes to join from this point on, please PM me and I will add you to the list. From this post on lets try and keep it to match setting up and match results.. Good luck guys.. |

I'm ready to play, also. However, most of you are probably 12 or more hours behind me, I'm +8 GMT. I can make it almost any time, though, I'm on vacation until February.
