Anyone play the new Prince of Persia?
Hey I've been checking around some sites, and the new Prince of Persia "Sands of Time," seems to be getting great reviews.
I think its just for Xbox, PS2, and PC It looks damn cool, and what I see from some sites, it IS damn cool. So anyone play it? If you have, what system was it on? What PC specs? etc... If you want some info on it, heres the site: ---> http://www.prince-of-persia.com/uk_html/news.php If you want to check out some reviews: --->IGN Review - 9.6 - (XBOX) --->IGN Review - 9.6 - (PS2) If you dont like IGN for reviews, check your favorite gaming site, because I can't think of any others (gamespot has annoying ads) at the moment. And can't seem to find a PC review, but I swear I saw one the other day... |

I've played the game, and it didn't impress me at all. The gameplay gets very repetitive. It doesn't feel anything like the wonderful original. It feels like a mix of Shinobi (PlayStation2), Blinx (Xbox, ONLY resembles it for the time control shit), and Tomb Raider (PlayStation, PC). I wouldn't buy it, I heard it is pretty short, I might rent it though.

Played it on the PS2 and it's a great game, controls are nice.
The only problem is that I suck at jumping in almost any game, really really suck at jumping. The first time you have to do multiple wall jumps to reach the dagger took me around 30 minutes to do. Yeah, that bad. |

Yeah, some of the multiple wall jumps are a byotch... but overall, the game is exceptionally fun.

I played it for a short while a couple months ago at the big ComicCon here before it came out. They had some problems with the camera angles...but worked that out. Even with those i thought it was a fun game. A definate difference from the original yellow/black version ( we had a yellow/black monitor before we got green/black.) Was a fun game, and i reccomend at least renting it to give it a try.

um.. actually this is the fourth Prince of Persia title, at least I think it is. The 2nd is a side scroller like the first one.

I love it. Sometimes some of the stuff the prince does make you sit back and think "Wow that was pretty damn cool." Plus the puzzles and just getting through a room requires you to think and analyze each room. It can get a bit hard at times but keep at it and you'll get through it.

I didn't like the fighting system too much (fighting enimies for 10 minutes gets really boring.) I only got stuck about 2 times, but the platforming was excellent fun, and much enjoyable to figure out (until the last couple levels, you'll see why )
A pretty good game, though very linear. It pretty much has the charm of a 2d game, but is built as and feels like a 3d game. The best part of course, is the ability to control time. Being able to rewind after missing a jump is just so perfect and awesome and kills SO much possible fustration (which is something MANY platformers need). So, a good game, could of used a bit more time under development to make it perfect, but still very fun. |

The X-Box version has the most content with both the original Prince of Persia and Prince of Persia 2. I *think* it may also have some other stuff but no one has found it yet.

Supposedly it also has a 3D version of an original board from Prince of Persia one hidden in it... not sure where, though.

actually the best action platformer ever is supposed to be the new Ninja Gaiden slated to release for Xbox next year. It also includes the orignal Ninja Gaiden NES games.
However, I do enjoy this new PoP game. Currently I'm stuck on one of the puzzles, I can't seem to make back to one the door in time before the switch resets

I have the PC version and I really love it. It's hard to get used to thinking that you can run on the walls and everything to solve the puzzels. It takes a while to know what the character is capible of doing really.
Really fun game once you get a hang of it. I bought a logitech wingman joystick to go with the game and it really helps. |

I think the best part of this game is all the cool stuff you can do with very little effort. All my roommates watched me play for about 45 minutes last night. Several times there was cheering and clapping. This is probably the best game I have ever played.

Back OT, I'm nabbing this one for Christmas. Does it have much replay value in it? I've been told that's it's too linear to go through again.

I thouroughly enjoyed Price of Persia. It had fantastic gameplay values, tight controls, and an amazing presentation. I really had a blast using different combinations of wall runs, ledge grabs, bar swings, wall jumps, etc to get around the levels and fight off the bad guys. It's definitely a game that should be on your holiday wish list. |

I'm not much for the Egyptian/aladan theme, but I like it. The graphics are good and streamlined. Lots of detail without going overboard and slowing you down. The controls are easy to learn, challenging to master. Oh, and you actually need to think to be able to play well. It's my book, its pretty good.
