Best Mario 3 Player....you tell me
Whoa.
/Keanu Reeves |
This guy plays Super Mario 3 better than Jesus. I liked how he had 4 lives going into the tank level and ended up with 78.
Amazing... Simply amazing
God that put my Super Mario 3 skills to shame... :(
*Jaw drops*
Holy.....freaking.....crap. That's amazing. |
damn...
wow... I bow down to the master |
Jesus H. W. CHRIST!
To put this in perspective, I never made it past the tanks... |
11 minutes! I'm not even done untangling my controller and blowing the dust out of the cartridge that fast!
There's something fishy about this. I've played that game thousands of times, and I've never seen graphical sprites move that fast. The timer and music are fine, but Mario and the bad guys are sped up. .It could just be that it's the Japanese version, but I've run through the first level as fast as possible, and it just isn't possible for Mario to move that fast.
Holy crap! I used to be able to do it in under 20 min. but this is unbelievable...
As much as I hate to use the word l337, it's the only thing that can possibly describe this guy.
First off I agree with MSD, something seems fishy.. that a bit sped up. Also through the wall cheat? Come'on! heh.
1337 just might fit because to be called 1337 in my book is not a good thing and this person obviously spent WAY to much time in their life being able to run it like that. |

It does look a little fishy, the speed. But still, HO-LY-JEE-BUS!!!
I disagree with the speed theories. It felt about the same when I pulled out the nintendo a few hours ago ;-)
It just feels fast because he is passing so many objects and interacting with them so quickly... your mind is catching up trying to register what's happening making it feel faster then it is. |
Either way that guy had to play Mario 3 a lot to remember when enemies pop up like that. I've never seen someone do the level with the sun so effortlessly.
SICK!
Lets all pitch in a dollar and buy this guy a life. |
Quote:
He may not know where all the enemies are in every level, just the ones he went through
Quote:
i will second that |
Simply amazing.
He was getting extra lives like, whoa! |
Wow, that's pretty sick.
Some mad save-state use there... but man, when he was getting 1-ups without being racoon mario, that was insane.
If you liked this, I think the standard of this genre of videos is "Quake Done Quickly". If you'd played through that whole game and probably spent weeks on it, it was so awesome to see some guys jump through the whole thing in 15 minutes. |
lets see him do that on mario 1....bitch.
just playing. that was impressive. |
Yeah, it's legit.. I've seen those time sets alot and this is one of the good ones. BTW it is the jap version of Mario 3 so some stuff may be different..
I can't access it, did we break it with traffic ?
That guy is sick
That is still my favorite mario brothers game of all time |
I went to the guy's website from the end of the video. He says that he made the video with an emulator and a lot of saving and loading.

Going through a wall is going through a wall. I was merely pointing out that he was using a process not intended for the game. By that, that could be considered an easter egg, or quite possibly even a cheat. Regardless I was just pointing out that he was cheap by not using the original route. This guy plays it too much no matter how you look at it though.
Woah. And I thought I was good. It's almost like the designers intentionally placed all the monsters and timed the cannons so someone would be able to beat a level in 10 seconds... Very cool, and very strange.

Im pretty sure this guy is legit, once you speed up an gain the "super run" and you start bouncing off guys and stuff, you can go real fast if you keep the pace up
Argh, I can't get it either. I wanted to see this after downloading the Mega Man 2 one. Does anyone know of a mirror?
Gah. No go.
I found some mirrors. The filename is the same, so I assume it's the same one.
http://www.lowqualitycomics.com/video/moSMB3.wmv http://www.morecooler.com/plugins/uploads/moSMB3.wmv http://club.nate.com/cfiles/952/cgipeople/moSMB3.wmv http://digitalinkart.rmrlabz.com/att...732-moSMB3.wmv http://ebaumsworld.com/smb3beat.html I'm not sure which of them actually work... I'm downloading from the first one, and it seems to be going fine. I haven't tried any of the others. |
aww link broke.

For those of you who want to see it though... Metroid Prime in 1 hour, 37 minutes; 100% items (15 files) http://planetquake.com/sda/mp/ I've never played it, though... I assume that's pretty fast? |
Well, if he used an Emulator it's possible he slowed down the frame rate to do about 1/4 of what it should be?
I doubt anyone would do that simply for some internet game. More owning for you guys to drool over. German THPS 4 addict. |
Eh, he's okay. It's hard to give complements when YOU ARE THE KING OF EVERYTHING MARIO! (Including Smash Bros. but excluding golf.)
wow.
That's incredible! If it's legit, it's even more incredible!
how long does it take you
That's almost like watching ballet...
Man, talk about hardcore gaming...it's all about timing, aint no skills involved. This guy must have played Mario 3 over 500 times...
Already a thread on this maybe even on the main page. If not, it's the second page down. Can't complain, the search function isn't working.
Anyway, about the video: the guy that made it used an emulator. He saved the levels he did perfect, and if he fucked up, he simply restarted that level. Then at the end he pieced all of the levels together using a video editing software. He didn't beat it in 11 minutes, he just showed that it's possible if you're Jesus. I guess he still gets credit for beating the individual levels like that; some of it is amazing. -Lasereth |
*gaping jaw*
*sigh*
if i had so much sparetime .. i wouldnt do it anyway heheh |
Super Mario 3 in 11 minutes
Some guy in Japan beat SM3 in 11 minutes, here is the link to the vid link P.s. sry if this has already been posted, my search wasn't working when I tried to check.
search is disabled for the move, eats to many cycles
yeah it has already been posted
It has been posted indeed. This is cool though, deserves two threads I say.
HOLY CRAP lol I saw it and still don't believe it.... and he got over 50 one ups in one of the hardest levels ... I thought I had free time damn
I saw this, crazy stuff.
woah woah woah talk about having no tie... perfecting the art of super mario
And people complain about how short games are these days  .

man....i mean thats cool...but stilll, i would not want to be the highlight of my life....i bet that guys skin is see through hes been inside so long
Yeah that is amazing in any aspect....i've heard there are vids out there of him beating megaman 2 in a really short time period.
I downloaded the 250 MB video of the guy beating Metroid Prime in an hour and a half at 100%. Now THAT was amazing.
-Lasereth |
I told you that Mario 3 video was fake ...
http://www.sohh.com/forums/showthread.php?t=410941
http://www.excite.co.jp/world/url/bo...co=excitejapan Basically, he used an emulator and took 2 years to play the game frame-by-frame, rewinding if he screwed up. Here's the text of his explanation, translated directly into barely-sensical English Quote:
That made no sense whatsoever. But I understood it. Too bad, really. Anybody with enough spare time could do that, then. Boring.
This was uncovered in the other threads, regardless it is still quite interesting and you've given us far more detail.
again...someone either way with too much time on their hands...

Mr.Deflok, the link to the Metroid Prime run was posted by Batman976. I watched some of it last night. I saw the link at fark.com. Some great stuff. Sadly I dont own a Gamecube myself. But I'm a Metroid fan from NES and SNES.

METROID PRIME LOOKS FUCKING AWESOME!!! I need to buy a GameCube and get used to FPS on a controller now, does MP have 3rd Person View?

It sounds confusing, but once you play a while, it's second nature. The combat isn't as smooth as with a FPS, but everything else is simply better. Most people put down the controller after a few minutes because they can't get used to the controls. Trust me, it gets better, and when you finally get the hang of strafe-targeting, you feel like a complete badass. Metroid Prime has the PERFECT controls for a first-person adventure game, not a FPS. Like Shigeru Miyamoto said: Prime isn't a first--person shooter. If it was, they'd leave the jumping out of it. :) And yes, this game is worth buying a Gamecube for. It's better than you can ever imagine. I'd pay $300 for a GC if it meant being able to play this game. I can't believe it's on sale for $20 at some places now...it's like seeing Halo or Vice City on sale for $20. You want to shake the retailer and say, "Dammit, this game should be $50 forever! It's worth it!" Metroid Prime does have a third-person mode, but it's only in the Morph Ball mode, which is used for some combat but mostly puzzles. Do yourself a favor and buy this game and a Gamecube right now And pick up Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem while you're at it. :) -Lasereth |

YOOOHOO!!
dunno if this is posted yet but the mario video is a fake.. not exactly a fake....the guy used an emulator to finish the game which he could save/load whenever he wanted so basically he saved/loaded about 15,000 times...he played the game at 1/30 speed and recorded it framewise but theres no cheating like...invulnerability/cheats etc etc theres a ddiscussion of this at www.ign.com forums |
Quote:
not that cool on an emulator but still...
Yeah i figured it was too good to be true, but part of me wanted it to be real :( If anyone has that Metroid Prime vid, post the link. I still cant find it.

It's in sections and is one hell of a download. Better get started! :) -Lasereth |

All these replays are awesome!
Independently of how they were created, they still bring back some great memories. Thanks for posting! |
I've seen this before..we discussed that it was done using an emu and not a actualy console. And he had over 99 lives

ive seen the clip before, that is just nuts. A life wasted on mario bros 3. . .
That Super Mario Brothers 3 was much different then what I remember during the last levels. Not that I remember much.
that metroid prime video is indeed sickening.
wait, are you saying it's sickening from the standpoint of "god why is he doing everything backwards and HOW THE FUCK DID HE BEAT THAT BOSS SO FAST and wtf man, it took me a full 30 minutes to beat that puzzle, he just skipped it" or is it sickening from the standpoint of "blecht that's a lot of motion?"
