Tony Hawks Underground (THUG)
i finally rented this game after watching those commercials on tv, and i have to admit its pretty good. at first i didnt understand how neversoft was going to make the tony hawk phenomenon a rpg.
the game is pretty much like grand theft auto. you have a main mission (to become a pro skater) but along the way there are many types of side missions you can get into. whats neat is that it has that customizeable face and body feature like tiger woods that allows you to create a character thats almost identical to your real image. if you love the tony hawk series, youll definately love this one.

i thought it wasnt bad. The funfactor is great, but it lacks heavily in any sort of realism. Its as if your character is a superhero.
And the missions... blah.. not very exciting, very predictable sort of gameplay. Its worth a rent, thats about it in my mind. Best tony hawk i still think is the 2nd or maybe the 3rd. |

I was a big fan of the second Tony Hawk, but didn't like how fast the third one's physics were. Is Underground as fast as the later ones?

I don't quite know what you mean by "how fast the physics are"... But I've only played THPS 3 and later. THUG feels just like THPS 4, in terms of the skating mechanics. There's a little more depth to the setup and freestyle/grind combos, but basically it skates just like #4.
Except that you don't just skate! You walk, climb, drive, etc. Wild! |
