I am a loser - need Tony Hawk 4 help
 

I have looked everywhere on the net for the answer to this and can't seem to find what I am looking for...playing THPS 4 on PSII.

How do you do the specials? I get to the one where you get to the dozer and have to flip it and it says to hit left and right in opposite directions and the circle button (after getting special meter ramped up.) After many hours of trying I can't get any of the special tricks to work - what gives? Same goes for the other 3 special challenges I faced.

I am using the arrow directionals on the controller and have been getting the special meter to as full as I can get it glows red.

Am I supposed to hit the buttons sequentially, at once, use the other two control directions?

I'm too old to be playing video games and this is proving it.

What character are you? If i remember correctly there is an option in the game itself that allows you to see what tricks are mapped to which buttons. Try this:

While playing the game, press start - Options - Edit Tricks - Special Tricks. Press select any of the slots to change to a special move, and then select a button combination.

I am playing as Tony Hawk, and only have the stock 3-4 tricks mapped in. When I go to the goals that require the specials, it will show me what buttons I need to hit, but when I do that with what I believe is a full meter, nothing works.

So when the instructions are <- -> + O, does that mean I hit left and right in that order and then hit O or while hitting O, or do I have to hold them both down at the same time, or do I have to use the two joysticks on the controller.

I had assumed that since the instructions on how to do it are on the screen, I would not have to map in or specify in the tricks menu that special.

Hit left, and then press right and O at the same time. Anytime you see a comma those commands are in sequence. Anytime you see a + sign, those commands should be done at the same time.

Plus, obviously, you need to jump the dozer before hitting the button combo.

This may be a reason for me to get HDTV - on my screen I can't see the comma between the two arrows - we'll see what the wife says.

at least for the PC, u have to press them sequestially
left release right release b very fast
it doesnt work if all r pressed togather
dunno about ps2..never seen 1 in eral life also :(

It's ALL about timing with the Tony Hawk games.

But once you've got a triple-kickflip-revert-manual-truckstand-5050-nosegrind-hardflip-nosemanual-nosepivot-superman-revert mastered, it's all down hill. :D
