Help Mr.Deflok Complete Vice City (PC)

There has not been a game that I have ever bought that I did not complete, even if it did suck. But one game that certainly did not suck was Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. I'm ashamed to admit it but I'm stuck, very very very badly.

This particular mission has defeated me, no mission before it in any game has ever been able to do that, and quite frankly, it's depressing.

So I'm calling for help to you Vice City veterans out there, HELP! It's the Dildo Dodo mission where you have to fly a Skimmer over town to drop off leaflets for a porno. I've tried everything possible but I just cannot keep the Skimmer in the air, hell I even had a friend try it on my PC and he couldn't do it either (and he completed Vice City on his PS2 in 2 days).

So I'm guessing that the best solution for me is to get a savegame directly after that particular mission. If anyone can do that I'd be indebted to them. Vice City is a wonderful game and it'd be a downright shame to have me stop playing it on the account of one tricky mission.

Don't have PC version here so can't help you...

But, really, keep trying. I beat the mission, its certainly doable and im no GTA expert. For a game like Vice City it would be much more satisfying to do it yourself, I'm sure you're aware of this and its a last result anyways, just saying...

Unfortunately I was never able to complete Vice City for PS2. I got quite far twice, yet each time my games save mysteriously got corrupted. I'd load the game to a black screen... I believe i could hear sound, just no visual at all...:/ Dunno if I need a new memory card or not but I got too fed up with it to care to be honest.

I have not been able to beat that mission either.. that plane is uncontrollable.

Are you guys using a joystick or the keyboard? I used a keyboard didnt have too many problems finishing that mission.

Heh... I set up my ps2 controller to the pc version of the game, and I beat the mission on my second try... I guess it was easy compared to flying a plane in BF1942 with the ps2 controller, so I didn't really have much of a problem with it.

I had no problem completing that mission at all...Flying is rather easy for me for some reason...

One problem I had with that plane is I tried to pull up too fast as soon as I got off the ground. Not too hard the second time and now that I've beaten the game I just fly around in the Hunter on vigilante.

It's all in the controller! I started playing VC with an older gamepad which I had beat on pretty bad from many other games. I couldn't finish the first VC flying mission (remote helicopter). So I ordered a new Logitech Rumblepad (wireless), and had no problem with any flying mission from then on. You may want to try calibrating your controller.

Are you using the pull up, pull down buttons? I have a Microsoft Optical Explorer moust that has that two buttons on the side deal used for viewing webpages. I just binded those two actions to those buttons. It is EXTREMELY helpful when flying the Dodo.

Just try binding those buttons somewhere comfortable on the keyboard (I don't know where exactly) and you should be fine. By default the buttons are like 7 and 9 arn't they?

If only my flying skills of the Dodo carried over to BF1942..........now those planes are hard!

Just keep trying, seriously. It's like the planes in Battlefield 1942. At first, you think that there is no way in HELL you're ever gonna be able to fly it. After a few hours of practice (or more), you realize that the control scheme is nearly perfect. As usual, practice makes perfect.

sorry to post so late in the conversation. I beat that mission however now I cannot seem to get past the last mission...chasing Sonny down through the mansion.....any tips on that?

Buy the auto-shotgun from Phil. That gun is AWESOME. Buy lots of grenades as well, and make sure to get the regenerating armor from downstairs in the lobby. That mission is hard, but definitely beatable.

The armor doesn't regenerate your health or anything, it just respawns constantly in the lobby. And Phil is the guy you did the bank robbery mission with; you know, the weapons dealer. He has the mini-gun, rocket launcher, auto-shotgun, and various other high-powered weapons for sale. The auto-shotgun isn't really a shotgun, but each bullet is the equivalent of a shotgun blast, and it's rapid-fire. Powerful as FUCK. 5 shots and many vehicles are blew up.

ahh...ok...it's been almost a month since I played the game due to frustration and I have forgotten names.....hell i forget my kid's names and I see them on a regular basis

lol that one was no sweat for me.
I bought one place and it supplies a regenerating chaingun, and I just got one with a ton of ammo and that mission was the easiest in the game.

I tried the chaingun, but found that the auto-shotgun works much better. And about being hard...well, it took me three tries, but that's considerably more than the other missions in the game. I think the only other one that gave me trouble was the one where Rico is driving you through the canals in the boat and you have to shoot the guys at the mansion from the boat. Oh, and maybe the "rescuing Lance" mission. That one was hard until I decided to ram the garbage truck through everything, rescue him, and drive out of the junkyard in the garbage truck to the hospital. Ha ha!

When you start in your office, wait and kill everyine who comes up the stairs. When there is a lull, head out. Lance will run away, and you follow him, killing as you go along. Once you reach the roof, immediatly get onto the helipad and back so no one can shoot you. toss some grenades around and kill everyone on the roof (Lance too).

Go back down the stairs to the basement and get the health and armor. Go out back and head to the front. Blow up the cars in the driveway. Kill anyone on the steps, and reenter the house. After the cut-scene with Sonny, get to the top of the steps, and back so no one can shoot you, then toss grenades down the stairs until Sonny dies.

Enjoy the rewards.

Well I finally got through the last mission (i'm afraid to say that I had to cheat just a little and use the "precious protection" cheat several times). After beating that the cut scene was pretty sweet. Then the game started back up after all the credits rolled.

I realized that there are somethings left to do (according to the Stats I've only completed 40% of the game). I never bought the night club so now I'm really stuck on trying to get out of the police station after getting the one dude out of jail....any pointers?

Sorry to dredge up an old conversation on this thread, but as for the first mission mentioned (the RC plane mission), I just got the game two days ago and am at this mission as well. The way I decided to beat it was to fly over to the cubans and run them all down (you can kill them before they get in the boats if you hit them at a moderate speed on the ground), then bomb the boats. Also, I'm using a PS2 controller, so the flying isn't too much of a pain. Just thought I'd make a point about another strategy to beat that mission.

Basically, just make sure you have a fast and strong car waiting outside. Get full health/armor. By this time you should have a police uniform in the station, so get that when you enter. Make sure you have a VERY powerful gun, say a Python. Once you get him out of the cell, basically book it for the door, shooting anyone in your way and making sure he stays close by. Get outside, into the car, and get to the hideout as fast as you can. It isn't really that hard if you can get to your car. Just make sure he stays close to you so he doesn't get shot.
