New Racing Game (PC)
I need help finding/picking a new game. Preferably a racing game since i enjoy those, and haven't played on in a while. I dont just want a normal racing game though. I want something with the ability to upgrade/change/tweak your car. Not just little things like the TestDrive series. I mean EVERYTHING i want to be able to change. Hardcore reality in parts and the effect they have. Highly technical. Motor City Online is the best example of this i can give. That level of customization is perferct. I loved that game until it went under, and now i am looking for something similar. Something aimed more toward the gearheads than the gamers.
If anyone has any recommendations for such a technical racing game, please let me know. I dont have a PS/PS2, but from what i've seen and heard, the Gran Turismo series is a technical and customizable as they come. Something along that line, except for the PC, is what im looking for. The actual gameplay would be nice too if it didnt suck. Seems like most everything i find that is neat, has crappy graphics and/or gameplay. Anyway, and help would be appreciated. |
I honestly don't know if there's a game out there that meets your wants besides Gran Turismo. Good luck on finding one though; if you do get a PS2 I suggest Gran Turismo very much.

Racing games on PC have pretty much died. I think they releaseed Midnight Club 2 for pc, that might come close, but the all of the best racing games are all for consoles now. Unfortunately PCs have become the realm of RTS, MMORPGs, and FPS... thats it end of show...

No way. Colin McRae Rally 3 is awesome. You can change the little things on your car, but maybe not to the fine tuning that you want. The drving simulation is amazing. I love that game, though it kicks my ass.

If you want realism, there is one area on the PC that wins hands down: the modding scene. First you need to buy EA's F1 2002. Next go to http://www.simbin.com/sbdt/ and read about their mods. Then download the amazingly superlative GT Racing 2002 and install. You will be able to customize so much your head will spin. They physics will be more realistic than in any other GT racer you have yet tried. Best of all the mod is free and F1 2002 is now dirt cheap. Enjoy!
p.s. wheel or gamepad strongly recommended. |
Wow, thanks a lot. That looks very cool, and very realistic. Once i obtain f12k2, i will definately look into that mod. Again, thank you for the link.

Exactly enough, GTR 2002 is great.
