halo proformance issues
yea i know there are like two other threads but mostly they are not talking about the problems with halo and solutions to solve them.
i have a 2.53 GHz processor, 100GB hard drive, 512 of ram, and a fx 56 geforce graf card and i am pissed that i am having problems with halo. multi is great at low settings. the single player sucks. get into a decent battle and wow slow city even at the lowest setting. bungie has a fix for the multi player out (more maps that kind of thing). nothing out for first person. anyone have any ideas on how to fix it. any patches etc... |
I heard something about a patch, unsure though. I have almost the same setup as you, except for a 2.2ghz athalon xp. (Im assuming you have the 256mb version of the FX5600) Halo runs awesome for me. I get no slideshowing, no slowdown, nothing, even with all the settings cranked. Maybe if you give a more complete system specs, we can point you to better drivers. Maybe you have some hardware error somewhere... Im not sure, but your problem doesnt make sense.
Be sure your halo is set to: No VSync, 800x600(to start, i run it at 1024x768) If you still experience slowdown, try halo.exe -useff I dont know what it does, but i heard it helps some systems I have: Asus A7N8X Deluxe AMD XP2400+ Overclocked to 2.2ghz GeForce FX5600 w/ 256mb ddr and 8x agp (Slightly software overclocked) 512mb pc2700 ddr ram thats everything relevant, i think |
turn off the sound options.

i got a 2.0 athlon xp with 256 pc2700ram and an mx440 w/ 128mb ram and even i experience pretty smooth play.
i play with most of the settings turned up. i suggest u update the vid card drivers (and make sure that the game is set to use your vid card) |
I've heard that the new patch fixes many of the slowdown problems... version 1.02 I think. Hope this helps.

Not sure about the PC, but the Mac version, even in final beta stages is getting better framerates with equal settings... SO, see you online. :)

Sounds like you have a hardware or software conflict that is sucking your systems resources...
|
You really should have no trouble with that config. Here's my own list:
1. New video card drivers (mentioned above.) Developers use the newest and greatest for building the game. You should too. 2. Sound card drivers. Could cause conflicts. 3. What's in your system tray? Lots of icons? Shut them off. They are holding chunks of memory. 4. What OS do you have? 5. Patch from Bungie. I know it mentions MP, but there may be some DLL changes that would help you. Always run the latest version. 6. Is your hard drive fragmented? Run defrag. Yeah, it takes forever. Do it anyway. Run it over night and keep your net connection off. If none of that works, turn everything off in the game, and add video features one by one until you hit the one that is killing your system. Then dont use it. Good luck. |
i have heard many complaints from people with top of the line computers who are having problems with the game stuttering....freeze frame performance...
i have it on xbox i think i will stick to the xbox version |
not my idea stole this from ww2 online forums.....
i love ww2 online but for one patch this song applied they fixed it now so maybe they will fix it for halo too enjoy right click save as |
