PS2 parental lock problem
So i hook my PS2 up to a tv intending to watch Two Towers on it and after reading the disc it comes up with a parental code screen. The odd thing is that i never activated that feature or anything when i bought it and i know no one else has messed with it. Then as an experiment i put in a nice G rated movie, Ice Age and i got the same error. So my PS2 is fine with me playing M rated games but won't let me watch any movie dvds. So far the only DVD i've tested that works successfully is an unrated concert. Anyway, if you guys have any ideas on how i could reset the code or if you know of a default one please let me know. Thanks.

My friends have both set theirs to "0000"
http://global.scei.co.jp/manual/pdf/SCPH-30001.pdf should lead you to the product manual, page 19 address the parental control. Apparently code "7444" deletes the old code (but you have to press select when it asks you for the code, I guess. All there on page 19). Then you can follow the steps to turn it off. |
that same thing happened to mine, i tried 0000 and it worked

if you go into the dvd menu, while your watching the movie, you can change the parental settings to 0, this worked for me, and it never asked me again. Although, this was for the first version of ps2. I ended up getting a new ps2 a month ago, and it now detectes like every movie (two towers for me too) but i couldnt get the parental lock to stay off...............

7777 was what mine was preset to.

Mine was set to 0000
I can't turn it off either. Thought it might have something to do with a memory card being required to save the settings. |
My parental lock was removed some time ago, long story about me having to send off my ps2 but when it came back the lock was gone, ill check out my ps2 and see what I can get.

yeah, if anyone can figure out how to rid it for good, please hit up this board.
