I can see a lot of people abusing the shield, however I don't know the specifics of it because I jumped off the CS bandwagon a year ago, too many lamers, haxorz and biarches.
Good to see the community still going strong! Can't wait for HL2 CS. |

i love it how every time a new cs comes out people say it sucks but then later they still play it, its happened for 4 years and it will continue, people have to think popular things suck, cause thats the cool thing to do,
You have to be hip and with it you see, or your just a lame square and who wants to be square.

1.3 was my favorite, it would have been 1.1 but I enjoy the voice com. 1.6 is interesting i'll wait acouple weeks till they get the kinks out of steam but all in all it will be ok everyone hates when they update cs but in the end everyone still lives with it.

The only complaints i still have are the "tactical possibilities in the shield". Ever go 1v1 w/ where you both have a shield? Sometimes its impossible to hit them, from any angle. The hit box for the shield isnt the size of the graphical shield, its much bigger. I also shot someone in the foot while they were jumping and got a headshot. CS 1.6 would be great if they fixed the shields. It seems they stacked it for the inexpeienced players, possibly encouraging them not to hack? Im not sure, but i dont like it.

Steam is a pile of garbage. Sure, let steam be the new WON for HL2, but please leave HL1 alone. And please oh please, don't go shutting down the WON servers for this. I find the Steam client annoying and clunky. I'd rather just load up gamespy3d and find a server, and connect. But steam adds 20 more menus that aren't needed.
Steam provides new content faster. Has anyone over at Valve taken a software development class? The faster you add new things, the faster you create new bugs. Once a game is released, there shouldn't be any patches for it if they tested it properly. But now, they could patch it everyday and people won't notice. Horay for software engineering. Blah. |

steam is free ... you pay for steam when you buy a game that supports it
maybe in the future will be options to get new games without buying them but haveing to pay for steam on a monthly basis.

Part of the problem with steam is theyre they dont have the resources to run both WON and Steam, since steam is such a bandwidth hog, theyll eventually shut down WON no matter what. Steam itself has been working much better since the second update, although there has been times when i cant connect. It does suck that once you play a game multiplayer (ie HL2) using steam, you can no longer play it single player w/o being connected to the internet. Theyve said this is a bad idea, and theyre working to get around it. Believe it or not, theyre actually listening to constructive criticism about steam and making changes based on that, so if you have something good to say, post it on the steam site. But no one likes people who complain and dont offer possible solutions.

hmm
personally the performance of steam is poor but i guess this will be fixed .. what i found good is that all menus look the same and you easily find your way around, in the old times to get all configs correct in halflife for all the mods was a pain in the ass

They said they fixed the shield exploit yet CAL has made it illegal to use because they didn't REALLY fix it.

Tried getting on last night but it just sat there doing nothing, Steam is soo freaking gay why not just do it like all the other patches.

Words of Wisdom on steam: Yes, it does seem like it sits there doing nothing at times, but usually its working, and sometimes it takes unusually long. How bout giving a decent description of where it was sitting "doing nothing", but all they do after that is complain about how much it sucks, instead of try to fix it. It is workable software, and it isnt going away, no matter how much people dont like it. In the end, itll be the same as everything else, people will just adapt and move on.

havn't seen a game in a day and a half, steam is bullshit. Says there are no games, and I know my connection is good because I played Everquest right before.

I've been liking 1.6 but the shield does get a little annoying, one thing I realized but haven't seen yet is that if a T gets a shield he can plant in a corner and then just sit on top of the bomb with the shield up and there's next to nothing CTs can do about it.
Also I have noticed that I have to connect to the fastest servers in order to play, it won't let me connect more often than before I updated. This is more a problem when I try to play DoD.
