PS2?
I am thinking about purchasing a PS2 but had a question you all might be able to help me with.
Up here in Canada they are anywhere from $199-$249 bucks for a new one. If I look in the bargain finder they are selling for like $150 wich includes a few games, extra controller, etc. Could there be anything wrong with buying a used one? Are there any problems with the old PS'2's? Is there anything I should look for in a used one? Thanks in advance, |
Ps2s tend to be the most fragile of the systems from my experiences, I'd probably go with a new one just in case. The old ones tend to have disk read errors and develop difficulty in playing the CD based games.

Yeah, i would get a new one. My friend had some disk read error problems with his and his was an older one. I haven't had a single problem with mine and mines a newer one.

I work for a game retail store (Wal-Mart, w00t) and we get way more returns on PS2s than any other game system. It's definitely a good idea to buy a new one, as Sony has made slight changes to the production process to make them less fragile than the old ones. Also, if you get a new one, you can use the store's return policy (and Sony's) if you have any problems in the early life of your system. If you're looking to save money, you should just buy used games, and stick to a new system.

Whoa! In New Zealand a PS2 by itself sells for $349, that's $160 USD! That's brand new and the latest PS2 model with the noise reduction and ability to play DVD-RW's and such. Yep, I work at EB.
