Baldurs Gate 2+expansion

I just got a combo pack with both Bladurs Gate 2 and the exp pack. Question is, do I install the expansion pack straight away, or wait until beating the game? Also, it didn't come with a manual, and I haven't found one on any of the discs yet, although i'm still going through them...is there anywhere online that I can find one?

You might as well install it right away. It makes for a little smoother transition after you beat the first game.

Congratulations on the purchase by the way. I'm currently on the last battle of the expansion pack, and its been one of my favorite games I've ever played. If you haven't played Baldur's Gate I, I recommend finding a copy before you start part 2. Its a hell of a thing to build your character up from 1st level to the end of the series.

There's no reason to go looking around for this, since you can probably get the game and the expansion for $20 or less. It's been out for probably close to ten years now. And it's worth every penny. Completing BG2+X in full, i.e. doing all the quests possible, will probably take you around 100 hours.

It's the best rpg I've ever played for the computer bar none. Enjoy!

Going solo as a sorceror just kicks so much arse My character has wiped out Athkatle, the Underdark and every single dragon he's come across with barely a scratch.

If you have to ask, you'll never know.

BG and BG2 are worth chalking up some $$ for, give the developers some due, it is one of the best CPRG games ever. Don't limit yourself to the expansion (although do install it before you play even the regular game), search google, there are tons of custom mods available beyond the expansions (in particular Weimer's mods are great).

Dude it's gonna be like $10 -$15 at Best Buy, just go buy it.
It's worth it. I still reinstall it every now and then to beat again.

i suggest you try Icewind Dale (a little bit dated) and Icewind Dale 2 as well. Not quite as grand (anyone who has beaten bg2 will know just how grand and epic things get) but still very very cool.

I didn't like Icewind, it was basically just:
Oh no, something bad is going down, better go check it out
-kill monsters-
Oh, look over there!
-kill monsters-
KILL KILL KILL

none of the storyline twists that BG had

It was built from the ground up as a dungeon crawler, though, that's why.

You'll need the original release of BG2 to get the manual. I was extremely disappointed in the "collection" release. It's a travesty really.

Yeah, the manual was phat. Had a list of every freakin' spell in the game. Good stuff.

I really enjoyed Baulders Gate 2. I had this awsome character Kali who single handedly beat every dragon or boss in the game.

Hehe, my solo sorcerer wiped out the entire city of Amn. Beat Gaax in the second chapter, too, which is just freaking awesome.
