Anyone still play Starcraft?
 

Just wondering, I still play this game for some reason, it's either the people or the gameplay...

It's not the people, trust me. I would play but I can't find neither my Starcraft disk or my Brood War disk, so I'll spend $3 sometime soon and get them.

I dunno, I've been going to the same channel for about 3 years now, and the people to me are one of the reasons I keep going back.

Clan wars, ops abuse, breakups, fights, endless bickering over useless topics...my kind of channel. :).

I played the hell out of this game in college. In fact I think blizzard should probably go right ahead and reimburse my tuition money. Thanks.

:D. I remember at times, channels would get crowded with too many people, we had to move to another one.

It's crazy how fanatic Koreans are over this game, they have live broadcasted matches and infinite merchandise over this game it seems.

I remember in PC Gamer like in 2001 or something said that 1 out of every 30 Man, Woman and Child own this game in Korea.

I used to play it daily but i had to format my hd so it'll prolly be a few weeks before i bother reinstalling it

I play it all the time, its a great game, and thats why people still play it. Starcraft II awaits.....

It must be probably one of the oldest games in the modern era that is still played.

AL9045, define "oldest games" do you mean oldest game that hasn't been patched or changed or just from when it was first released?

i know plenty of old pc games that are still played to death anymore, however, most of these games have been open source and get many patches for them..

i find it amusing though that there are very few games who outlive the OS that they were programmed for, but Warcraft 2 did it. The game was originally for DOS, but it was still being sold well after DOS was no longer being sold. It was popular enough that Blizzard went back and redid it to make a Win9x edition (Battle .Net edition) and it still sells on the shelves today.

From release, and I mean modern era, not games like Tetris and Pong.

Not only yes, but hell yes. That and AOE II are my two favorite games of all time. Sorta pissed that the new one is not an RTS but I'm still gonna get it.

Do the koreans still play this? I remember reading something about there being a big new game there that replaced sc.

Um, yes, they still play the hell out of this game.

But, I think they also play Lineage II a lot.

No, but there was a new rts (not in U.S.) that had, to some degree, replaceed SC.

Can you guys tell me how many people are usually on US-East at any given time? I was thinking of buying this game (lost my copy years ago) but I only want to do it if there are a decent amount of games going on...

I still play Starcraft some. I'm playing through the single player Marine campaign still.

I haven't gotten a chance to try this out yet, but there is an MMORPG that is very Starcraft like called <a href="http://www.sgalaxy.com/">Shattered Galaxy</a>.

Free play, with some limitations to your character development.

Starcraft is, IMHO, one of the best games ever made for the PC...i will always play SC.

Yeah, SC is probably one of the better games out there, I used to be pretty good at it too....

I still play it, but I must say I'm starting to get a bit tired of people using the same tactics. Every time I play, it seems that its always a carrier swarm, or a battlecruiser swarm, or a zerg rush early on. It's getting hard for me to find people who don't play the "massive amounts of resources 1/2 an inch from your main structure" games. Yet for some reason, I still play. Zone control, anyone ;)

Unless you play money maps, you will almost never see Mass Carriers/Battlecruisers.

What you will see in a PvT Matchup is Early Goon vs Tank Push.

So repetitive. :D.

You ever play FFIII or Super Mario RPG, those are some sweet ass maps.

Well still plays it sometimes on Battlenet, it still a good game :)

i just got starcraft out for the first time yesterday

everyone ive ever met on battle.net has sucked

my brother just started playing it with his friend and now he will not get off the computer at all. oh and where can you get this game for $3 dollars?

I would but during a move I lost my case and hence my cd key, and I cant seem to find it anywhere.

When I got my new comp I found my copy of SC and my Brood War (I have my BW case of course) but no SC case :(
