Gunbound - a "worms-like" free online game
www.gunbound.net is the url for the English version.
It's a game that is similar in concept to worms, and playable in groups of up to 4v4. There are a few different gaming modes such as score (where each team has a certain number of lives), solo (where once you die, you are out for that round), or jewel (where you attempt to hit jewels for money, not other people -- good for beginners learning how to aim). There are also around 12-15 different tanks/mobiles to choose from, and a wide variety of items and "clothing" to purchase with gold gained from playing against others. My name on gb is "seretogis".

Am loving gunbound, just started it today, and haven't been able to stop, with the exception of server problems, and a brief trip to the forums.
It feels just like online Worms would, only the games tone is a bit more "cutesy", and the weapon are limited to 3 per mobile. And even when u die, there is a an opportunity to continue earning gold and being able to drop items to assist teammates or hinder your foes. Playing as "Chair"

God, that game is hilarious. Way to go, seretogis. I played for an hour straight and was laughing the whole time. Though the game suffers from the usual problems(server issues, bizzare language barrier, the jerks that will be present in any online game) it's a wonderful time all around. Here's hoping I don't meet up with you, though -- getting my ass handed to me by an arch-enemy would be bad for business.

Cool, thanks for the link! I am really liking this so far. I am such a noob though. I am more used to Scorched Earth-type physics rather than Worms-type physics, so maybe thats one of the reasons for the suckage, but not only do I miss my enemy, I often hit my teammates too. Hopefully I get better at this before people crucify me or something.
Anyhow, I play as "nefir", so if you want to see some projectile self-mutilation and unintentional team killing, look me up.

Played a little tonight. Until the last game, all my games have been with polite, friendly people. This particular game involved copious amounts of smacktalking, both to enemies and teammates. Jerks, they are everywhere, hey?

You stopped because of the pay they implemented?
I think it's fine.. you don't have to pay if you don't want to.. you can still EARN your items, if you want. The payment is just for those people that want a little shortcut to some higher-end items. Having said that, gunbound rules! |

gunbound is really fun, especially now that they have the new zones and the buddy list! i like joining the zones where you items dont acually count, it gives people who dont spend their time playing all day a fair chance! i just hope they keep updating and adding more mobiles any time soon

Cool, I loved worms. There was a QBASIC game called gorillas I used to play all the time. I still play it whenever I dig one of the old computers out of the garage. So much fun yet so simple.
btw Gunbound seems to has a good chance of wasting alot of my time.

You achieve higher levels (the hammers and axes) by gaining game points.. if you win a game, you get game points. If you lose, you get none. If you kill someone, you get a few game points. If you kill two people with one shot, you get game points, plus double kill bonus. If you break a certain damage threshold (1000 dmg, for example), you get bonuses for that.
Your GP add up, and when you reach a certain number of game points, you get to the next level. |

Quote:
- killing someone either by doing damage, or dropping them (bunging) off the screen = 100 gold - doing 1000 points of damage in a round combined = 100 gold (same at 2000 and 3000) - winning a round = 300 gold.. now.. buy little items that give the stat star, which makes you more money. 1 star = 1% more gold.. therefore if you had 50 stars, killing two people and doing over 1000 damage and winning the round is now worth 900 gold!
