Poker Night - game suggestions?
Friday night I'm having a poker night with a bunch of friends and coworkers. More of a party atmosphere and not the usual, serious, games I'm used to.
I'm expecting 18 and I think all will play considering it's pretty low stakes. I've considered doing a couple of tables but it would be nice to play some games that could be played with all of us. I'm pretty sure 7-27 and 3-33 is fine with this many people, especially with multiple decks. Can you suggest others? Thanks!

Yeah but I wouldn't. It's not much fun with more than 10 per table. Your best bet is to bust up the tables and just let people move around. I would have one table of Hold Em and two more of dealer's choice. Make sure you set all your ground rules up front (table stakes, etc.) and have fun! I loooooooove me some poker.
p.s. Check out the rules for Pineapple on utlimatebet.com |

Well, a good time was had by all. Although all showed, not all played and we ended up with a single table of 11. Texas Hold 'em, 7-27, 3-33, and a few 5-card stud games, plus some crazy dealer calls, made it a fun evening that just wrapped up (2:20am).

It's like 7-27.
A high-low split between the person(s) closest to 7 and 27. Cards are worth face value with face cards worth half a point and aces worth 1 or 11. In 7-27, one is dealt face down and one face up. The lowest showing starts the betting rounds. After each betting round, players have an option to draw cards. They can decline to take a card up to three times in a row before they are "frozen" and can't draw a card. After everyone's been given an option on drawing a card, another betting round is done led by the lowest point value showing hand. This cycle continues indefinately (going to an extra deck if needed) until no one takes a card after a betting round. Players then declare if they're going high or low. 3-33 is similar but, with us, we are dealt three cards and the player rolls the card of their choice. At the beginning of the evening a general concensus will determine if we're playing inside or outside for the whole evening, this will help break ties if no one is on the exact number. If "insides" are called for the evening then 7.5 and 26.5 will win over 6.5 and 27.5 (think of a number scale).
