Pc Adventure Games (Lucasarts and Sierra)
I love some of the older (and newer) PC Adventure games. I'm not talking about the GTA3 or Zeldaesque games. I'm talking about some of the old school stuff from Lucasarts and Sierra. Games like "Day of the Tentacle", The Monkey Island Series and the Space Quest Series. One of the first video games I ever played was the original Space Quest. I remember spending days going over puzzles or obstacles I was stuck on, and then that moment of triumphant when you used the right item in the right place at the right time. Pure Rapture.
I played The Sierra Adventure Games through my youth.. Space Quest, King's Quest, Quest for Glory, Leisure Suit Larry.. Then I discovered Lucasarts. I embraced them even more than Sierra, with great humor based games like Maniac Mansion,Monkey Island and Full Throttle. After Sierra was involved with Half Life, It's direction shifted to appeal the larger audiences. They fired hundred of their workers when the shift happened. LucasArts, fortunately, is continuing their Adventure Games and have came out with some true masterpieces, Sam and Max hit the Road and Grim Fandango are just two. They've also got a good line up for the future with Sam and Max 2 and Full Throttle 2 coming out. Yay Whatta think? |
well they would be cool apart from full throttle 2 being cancelled,
But yeah I remember the days of quest for glory, that was an awesome game, You know morrowind, Someone is making a quest for glory TC for it, looks cool, if its ever finished |

Mmm, nostaglia. Spinach_Indeed said it all. I can't wait to get my hands on the Sam and Max sequel!
I'm still stuck on Monkey Island 4. How the hell do you beat the Monkey Kombat puzzle? |

I saw the game at E3 Mr. Deflok. It was really looking pretty bad. The humor just wasn't there and the gameplay seemed weak, too. To be honest, they made the right call - no matter how disappointing it was to hear it.

Sam and MAAAXX!! I cn't wait fo it :D

If you haven't already, check out The Longest Journey-an older title now, it's about 3 years old I think. Classic adventure gameing, just played it a couple of months ago and it took me way back. A sequel is currently in the works, too, so there's something to look forward to.

I played Longest Journey a while ago. Great voices and Characters. The puzzles were at a good level too. One of my favorites.
I picked up Siberia a couple months ago after I read a couple reviews that said it was very similar to Longest Journey. After playing Siberia for about 2 hours, I uninstalled it. It was horribly boring. Boring Puzzles, Boring Settings. BORING. |
Grimm Fandango rocked!

Loved Longest Journey. Liked Syberia, looking forward to the sequel. Have to admit that I was drawn in by Sokal's carbon sketchings and the backgrounds, not so much by the gameplay. Same went for Amerzone, so I'm looking forward to Syberia 2.
They're making a sequel to the Longest Journey? All I can say is that's great, it's the game which brought back all those adventure game memories when I was a kid. |
