Vice City multiplayer (Multi Theft Auto)
 

a group of modders have put together a mod for multiplayer gta:vice city for the pc.
ITs the first release and is a little buggy, but there is some great potential. Even thought its the first release, its a hoot.

i wonder if this version works over a lan. I will have to try it out.

Crap, I might have to get this for PC now...

I've been playing it for a couple hours. Definently cool. Everyone is very jumpy which makes it near impossible to hit them if they strafe side to side. Then the game crashes at least every 10 min. People blame it on other people using trainers.

I don't see why it wouldn't work on lan. Just host a server and get the server's IP.

In a server we had like 10 people in the bloodring doing a destruction derby which was really cool.

i'll wait till the next version comes out.

yeah it works on lan, i've played it on a lan with 4 others.
You need to set up a dedicated server and then its pretty easy to connect from then on.

Its is good fun and really funny the way the guys move. Sometimes a little frustrating when they seem to die, but actually don't....lots of fun nevertheless.

i still wonder why the developers didnt put this in the game, i always wondered what it would be like and with this we see the light. It is a lot of fun and cant wait till it is done professionally. It really brang new life into the game.

was about to buy it.. now i'm most definately getting it this weekend:)

I just beat Vice City a little while ago so I don't want to get all Vice Cityed out. But it sounds like something I'm gonna have to try eventually......

.....Or maybe I'll try it now, just for a little bit....

From the posts I've read, it would seem that this is a deathmatch mod. Any confirmation on that? Also, does anyone know of any mission-based cooperative, mission-based counteroperative, or simple team mods? I couldn't access any of the media/documents on the linked dsite, as it appears the server's down.

Simple Deathmatch but on all the servers I played on we teamed up to do crazy as stunts and show off and shit.

Oh we are cheating ourselves? I have VC on ps2 and on pc, the pc version is the shit. On the ps2 can you turn the graphics to a higher setting and turn up the resolution? What no? Can you mod the shit out of the game? no? pc version is way way way better. Just like with gta3. Dont get me wrong, i love the ps2 but there is no competition here.

i was indecisive about buying it for the pc before.. but after hearing this... i'll probably pick it up this weekend.

Wow! I had heard they did some coding for multiplayer, but didn't think there was enough for someone to hack to work. I must check this out asap!

Why, may I ask? The only possible thing about is the lack of a controller, and you can buy one of those (if you're allergic to keyboards or something)

actually correct me if i'm wrong, but GTA originally started on the computer.. thus it BRANCHED to the console.. but it was born on the computer, and thus reigns on the computer ;);)

I DL'ed it a while ago, never got around to trying it...this post has just remotivated me...now if I can only get away from all of the BF1942 mods long enought to try it
