Battlefield 1942 : Secret Weapons of WWII
The demo is coming out August 8th. It looks pretty neat. Anyone gonna pick this up when it comes out?

I might get the demo, but definitely not the addon itself--it appears to be a modification; I was burnt with Road to Rome and I'm ambivalent about another purchase.
That being said, if Desert Combat was only available on the shelves I'd fork out for it in a heartbeat. |

Well, I watched a show on the history channel about these "secret weapons" or at least some of them. The jetpack was true, but they said it blew up 50% of the time, so they scrapped it. Hopefully the ingame jetpack will do the same. Maybe itll balance the people who would exploit it?

The Nazi's did work on jet packs. Problem being that in the game you can shot the pack and it will explode or it can just randomly explode if over used

I used to play Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe all the time.
They have a sequel/remake coming out this fall. http://www.lucasarts.com/products/normandy/ Also, i just bought the BF1942 SWWW2 disk today. It's pretty neat...although no major game changes. |

Secret Weapons is really, really addicting. Of course there's no major game changes; don't mess with something that's not broke! My favorite new addition would have to be the British Assault rifle. That thing is so badass. That, and perhaps the Flakpanzer.

I guess I was just disappointed that many of the additions were new, faster aircraft. It was hard enough to successfully strafe anything before, let alone at three times the airspeed.
The rocket pack is damned cool though. They're a great way to sneak into the enemy base. "Fence? Haha!" I also enjoy the C-47 that doubles as a respawn point. Does anyone know if the additions are only available in the new maps? Or do any of them show up in the older maps? |
