PS2 Problems

sometimes when I play a DVD on my PS2 the lighting gets all fucked up....example:

the movie will start playing and then all the sudden the screen will get really dark....then about a minute or two later it'll go back to being bright...it does this off and on on some if not all my DVDs...whats the problem?

Macrovision it sounds like. Are you runing your video signal through a VCR or something on the way to the TV?

It's suggested in the Operational Manual that you connect the PS2 directly to your tv or lose some video quality. Could that be your case?

Is it possible that the movie is in PAL format and you are on an NTSC TV (or vice-versa)?

I was just playing Enter The Matrix and just noticed how much darker it was than playing it at my gf's house. Here I have to hook it through a VCR...hmmmm

Yeah, I don't know a way around it, but that is what macrovision copy protection does to a DVD signal that gets piped through a VCR.

You could try hooking it up w/ a RF cable which would give you a direct line to the TV.

Otherwise I think you are gonna have to live w/ it.

Whenever i watch a dvd on my ps2, and there is text on screen, like subtitles, the credits or on menu pages, there is a loud crackling, static type sound.

does anyone know why this is?
