Cool. This was created by the people Valve hired from the mod community.
I'm going to check it out.

Wait, there's levels?
I clearly need to have a closer look at this game.

I'm saddened that this game stole a title yet has nothing to do with the live-action Ben 10.

I'm digging the leather pants, though.

Alien Swarm is ideal as a form of stress relief. My favorite combination is the flamethrower, ammo pack, and power fist attachment. Combining the three allows for an infinite stream of melee destruction. Parasites are also inconsequential during the later levels with a flamethrower at the vanguard, and the mad rush to the chopper after the nuke is activated becomes a leisurely stroll.

I just reread this thread and saw this. Oddly enough my PC is overheating during it as well, and it doesn't overheat in other games. My motherboard warning goes APESHIT while playing this game, beeping like crazy. Very odd.

I googled it and others are having the same problem. I wonder what exactly is going on to create this absurd heat generation.

Yeah, my machine runs hot, as I can hear the fan cranked up while playing it.
I finally tried this out properly online instead of in practice mode. It's not as hard as I thought it was, though I was playing easy mode. I was concerned about not getting used to the directional movement and firing at the same time, in addition to changing weapons and using items. I hope I'll get better in time. Check me out: Steam Community :: Alien Swarm Stats :: [TFP] Baraka_Guru Oh, and it's a beautiful-looking game, and the sounds are great too. I especially like the echoing/diminishing sound of gunfire/voices when your squad moves further away from you. Pretty cool lighting/alien blood splatter effects.

I played this a bit after reading this thread, and I love the atmosphere and style of the game.
But it's not something I'll be playing regularly, or even for long periods of time when I do play it..The difficulty gets high very fast, unless you play with people who, unlike me, know what they're doing.
