PS3 Mod Chip
 

Does anyone have any insight on this? Is the PS3 capable of being cracked by using a Mod Chip? What's the pros and cons?

not possible currently. looks like someone made a little headway with running linux on a ps3 but then they took that "install other OS" feature away in the last firmware update.

i can't understand why anyone would want to chip a console for cheaper games, but lose their warranty, when you can rather pirate on PC for "free" with no repercussions to your hardware. The ability to play exclusive content is hardly worth it, especially considering that you lose out on online multiplayer. This is especially true for XBL, where the best exclusive content is multiplayer anyways.

To each his own, I suppose.

yeah even PC games are becoming things that deter piracy through pre-order incentives and unlocks.

I've spent more on games in the last year than the last 5 combined.
