Remaking video game covers.
This topic was inspired by: Make video game covers classy - The Something Awful Forums
They had a really cool idea of remaking game covers and trying to give them simpler/classier/retro box art. The results became not only artsy but VERY cool. Here are some great ones that they did: God of War: http://i43.tinypic.com/2q1au6o.png Super Mario Bros.: http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/5373/smbyt7.jpg R-Type: http://kalleboo.mirror.waffleimages....b9f008bc6a.jpg Guitar Hero: http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/7295/guitarherojl1.jpg Chrono Trigger: http://kalleboo.mirror.waffleimages....4d99d7d2c9.png Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (by my room-mate!): http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/1217/zeldafp8.jpg You get the idea; there are tons more in the SA-thread I linked to. Anyway, though I don't come here much anymore, I thought TFP would be interested in these and perhaps even make some originals. Enjoy. |
those are pretty awesome!

The Zelda one reminds me strongly of art that was in the booklet of Link To the Past. I haven't seen it in probably 10 years, but that's how much of a Zelda geek I am.
.. Ok I just checked it, that's where it's from. |
Pretty cool! I'd ask the question of whether or not covers like this are marketable (I mean, if studios started adopting stuff like this) but considering that most cover art is mediocre at best-- what harm could there be?

I love the guitar hero one.
I wish I had a sixth finger for orange. |
The God of War cover is pure class.
