I've been playing Ogame for a few weeks now, quite addictive really. I log in usually about twice a day, make a move in the morning and log in again in the evening to see what happened and make another move for the night. Things happen slowly in game. When you send your fleet to another galaxy, it might take a few days for that fleet to arrive and send back information about what is there. If you are expecting Homeworld this isn't it. This is more like Chess, very turn based. There is a tutorial that you play through to begin the game. This takes a while to build up your resources, but is a good introduction to how things work in game.

I played along with a few guys from work for a while. It was fun.

Do you get "ganked" in this game by other people? I played one game a while back that was browser-based like this and it was amazing until it turned into a "gank fest" where every single person just kept killing each other until no one could do anything at all, it was a stale mate.

This seems interesting though! Can anyone provide input?

Anything different about this than the other 100 other games just like this?

I don't know, this is the only one I'm playing. It's been about 3 weeks now, no one has killed me yet, no one has even bothered me, except for an espionage probe that arrived in orbit from 2 systems over. One of the other players in my universe dropped out and sent me over a couple of resource transports with supplies he didn't need anymore.

I started playing this a few days ago, but so far I don't get it... but I'm still onthe tutorial so I'll see.

You'll be on the tutorial for a few weeks. Keep upgrading and building up your resources, you'll need a lot of them to continue, especially in the later stages of the tutorials. Always keep more energy than your need, so your harvesters are running at full speed. Don't worry about offensive weapons just yet, so far you've got nothing anyone needs. What is your planetary address? I'm at 1:133:5

My energy is always minus? -506 atm.... I keep adding solar plants (5 so far) but to no avail.

My Planet is at 1:486:7.

I am sticking with it because it seems like it will be fun. I'm up to tutorial 4

If your energy is negative, then your harvesters are not running at full speed, and you are not producing as much resources as you could be. Try either building a bunch of solar satelites (+75 energy each), or do research and build a fusion reactor. Your energy needs to be plus.

I started playing a few days ago when I noticed the thread, and now I'm wishing I had started on the 4x speed universe. It's so slow =/ but at least it's a fun occasional diversion now and then while at work or home.

Just started playing about a week ago, so far it's quite interesting... location 1:170:7 :)

Looks quite interesting, just started playing today.

So, I'm still plugging away at this during my downtime at work, my friends and I moved to Electra(4x speed server) and started a clan. If anyone else is on that server and wants some company let me know.
