Battlefield 1942
Okay, I just picked this up last weekend, and I've played through the first couple of levels. To be honest, I'm just not having "Game of the Year"-level fun. Is there something wrong with me? I'm just not enjoying it at all

what experiences have you had that have made you feel 'less than "game of the year"-ish'?

I thought it to be pretty damn good in my opinion, though the first couple levels can be a bit of a bore.... I think I liked MOHAA better though.

It's basically an online game. The single player experience is so-so, but when you're in a big game with 30 man teams, it's amazingly cool. There are also 2 really good mods in progress, one called Desert Combat, which simulates modern warfare, and Eve of Destruction, a Vietnam-era mod.
If you're going through "levels," you're not playing it online, and you're missing all the fun.

Ah-ha!
I'll be checking out multiplayer then this weekend. And if I don't enjoy it, I guess I'll go pick up Vice City. (yes, my gaming cycle runs about a year behind everyone elses. I refuse to pay 50 bucks for something I have to beta-test)
