My memory for gaming moments is pretty short. I had a good TF2 match last night, though. The other team was smacking us around (Dustbowl stage 2) and apparently decided to take pity on us. So they capped the first point in no time and then played the rest of the map as a gimmick. First it was all spies, which was hilarious, a huge wave of red engineers running at you, then they switched to heavies, then demomen. We ended up holding the second point and it was both funny and fun.

I used to love having LAN parties in my friend's garage with a bunch of old friends (most of whom I have fallen out of touch with). CS, Starcraft, Diablo2, TFC, TF, Giants. Those were great times.

wow a great topic
since I"m a sucker for these things, I'll be detailed Favorite Arcade Moment : After 2.5 hours with my cousin finally beating D&D Tower of Doom, one of the greatest side scrolling games ever made. Absolutely amazing game. Favorite Computer Game Moment : Definately some higher ups in Unreal Tournament, but my favorite was having an insanely powerful Elvaan Ranger in Final Fantasy XI back in 2004. I did over 70% damage over your standard ranger and was always asked to party, and went from level 10~70 so quick it all became a blur. The odd part was it was my 5th class with the character, as I had 4 other classes raised up to level 60+. High console moment : Probably everytime I play street fighter three to tell you the truth. the game is so fluid and so technical that a great match just gives you this crazy energy rush. high cell phone game moment : anytime I beat level 16 in brick breaker on the blackberry. Stupid devil level. high card game : winning $1000 on a backjack hand. High tournament : Back to computers. I won the 2001~2002 dragon con Unreal Tournament Death match challenge. The score. 72-18. Got a voodoo 3 5500 for it. Man that was ages ago.

When I was in my first fleet op in EVE Online.
2 hours of pure terror and fun, my hands were shaking violently for the first 10 minutes and I couldn't click very accurately. After 2 hours enemy fleet was annihilated and I was able to get out of the room. This was about 100 vs. 100 and because in EVE you don't get your shit back if you get popped... adds to the excitement a lot. First glass of water went down the sink because I couldn't hold the glass with one hand only. Got kicks after 1 hour still. Adrenaline 4tw. Too bad I can't play any other MMO's anymore, their interest rate is close to zero because of the carebearness and bullshit-no-loss-pvp/consensual PvP attitude. Anxiously waiting for the WoD MMO which might come out around 2010-2011 (produced by CCP, will have non-consensual PvP!).

Wow, cool thread!
I guess the one moment that stands out is when I made it to Stranglethorn Vale with my first WoW character and got a taste of PvP in that game for the first time. It was a one on one fight and I remember being so nervous I was jumping out of the chair and my fingers were all over the keyboard! I got spanked pretty bad needless to say. I had the same feeling for the first 50 or so one on one fights in WoW. I can't describe the sensation in words but it was amazing. Oh how I long for those days again. --jaded

Going to the movie "The Wizard" just 'cause there was a preview of SMB3 in it.
God, that movie was so incredibly terrible, but that scene at the tournament still sticks in my mind. "Get the flute! GET THE FLUTE!"

last night, i pulled out a copy of Rocket Jockey for the PC from 96. awesome game and the music made me think of so many awesome memories! spent over 10 min explaining the game to my gf. i think my best moments in gaming were playing that over split screen deathmatch.
truly awesome gameplay. they should do a remake/sequel to that game!!

Since my scroll wheel is screwed up at the moment, I am having a hard time getting past lvl 7, let alone 16+. How high does it go in levels?

A lot easier, level 16 is the death zone ofr a lot of people I try to get to it with at leasts 10 lives, and happy if I leave for 4 or more. It's really crazy sometimes. From 26-32 it' pretty much smooth sailing, and actually you get a lot of lives. Don't be suprised to end up with 20~30. I was being an idiot when it restarted (losing lives playing around trying to catch it at the edge), but really you can get 20,000+ easily after a few practices.

My (most recent) favorite moment in gaming: (Don't read if you haven't played level 17 of Portal yet) Spoiler: Euthenizing my Weighted Companion Cube
That whole game is amazingly well done, but that particular moment is SO great. It manipulates you into this place of superstitious emotional attachment, and then rips that away from you, all coldly in the name of testing your response. Portal may be the single most brilliantly written game I've ever played. |
